Tesla undoubtedly has more plans for the CT platform. To claim that Rivian is more strategic in manufacturing than Tesla is likely the unique opinion of Rivian owners.

Tesla hasn't built more vehicle models to date because its not additive to their yearly total vehicle. production. Adding CT means reducing model Y/3 production.

Rivian likely would be better off if they had just built the R1S to date. More models for the same volume means lower margins. The van is unlikely to ever produce above average margins.

Selling products at below cost is the easiest way to manufacture products that consumer like.

Yeah nobody, and I mean NOBODY, wants a worse Lotus. Making a worse Lotus isn't easy to achieve, so hats off to Tesla being being able to do so. That may actually be their single most remarkable accomplishment.

It's also tiny. Most people are surprised the first time they see it.

I agree that the Elise is a better car than the roadster, especially based on weight. It's remarkable that Tesla could start a company simply electrifying that car.
