First time CCS1 to NACS charging session at the RAN and it errored out multiple times.

What is the correct way to start the charge? I have a 1000V Lectron CCS1 to NACS adapter I got from Amazon.

1. Plug the RAN cable to the adapter and then plug it into the car.
2.plug the adapter first into the car and then connect the cable.

Tried both ways and failed. Third (or 4th time) I did option 2 and pushed the cable in. Failed after delivering about 3Kwh.

TIA

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
(1) is the stated way to connect based on both CCS -> NACS connectors I had.

Year/model/battery so we can assist.

This "assistance" might end up being "call Rivian" but the gang here is pretty helpful when possible.

I have always read the adapter goes on the charge cable first. Then wait for maybe 30 seconds before plugging into the vehicle. I have never waited except for the time to get the heavy cable extended into a good position. Some stations seem to just not be working. Have used a RAN L3 twice and both worked straight away. Other brands have been an issue. Move down the line until one works.

I believe official instruction for adapter is plug into adapter first, then into charge port on vehicle. But adapter into vehicle first should also work. You might want to try full reset and then retry. And/or try another stall or location.

I have an A2Z CSS1 -> NACS adapter. I've charged at RAN CCS1 dispensers a few times now with my 2026 R1S (NACS port). I've plugged the CCS1 dispenser cable into the adaptor and then plugged that combo into the car's NACS port without any issues. It's been a simple plug-n-charge operation each time so far. Have you tried to see whether you have issues with a NACS dispenser (i.e. no adapter?) That may help to point at a general charging or adapter issue.

For 2026, only the Quad get the CCS adapter included free. The J1772 AC adapter is included on all.
