I followed this thread to (successfully) install my Escort Redline 360c. I just want to add that I used a long flathead screwdriver to pop the clips out.
I went in through the bottom opening. Started with passenger side bottom. Then driverside bottom, then passenger side top, the finally driverside top.
THROUGHOUT THIS PROCESS, while I was prying with the screwdriver towards the floor, I was pushing the rearview mirror towards the window to prevent it from coming off.

I ran the wire through the bottom for a very clean look.
Worked for me. Hope it works for you.

Highly recommend getting ahold of some plastic trim pry tools for folks that are looking at wiring things like radar detectors, dash cams, or CarPlay screens. Using metal screw drivers around plastic clips and wood grain gives me goosebumps 😅

I appreciate the great resource this forum has been. I was able to quickly install my radar detector hardwired, and mounted using the BlendMount from my X3. It isnt perfect but it’s solid and I can’t do the suction cup anymore.

After reading posts about cracked windshields, I'm thinking about using the drivers side fuse box. Which fuse is the best to tap? If possible, could someone kindly, post photos and instructions? I've gone through previous post and can't find anything like that. Hope I didn't miss it.

Happy New Year to all you speed demons!

Read this post where I covered my install for phone chargers - Passenger Side Fuse Panel

that’s where I found those answers and posted my install as well

I ran mine like this. Ran the V1 cable behind the dash, down on the passenger side, under the footwell paneling, and mounted the V1 USB adapter where you see it in the pics. Then took my USB-C cable from the center console, put it into/ behind the trim running along the center floor "storage" area and up into the adapter. I didn't want to tap into any actual wiring like I normally do in case something pops up and they try and deny any sort of electrical warranty.

Which model X3 blend mount? I tried the one I used for X5 but there isn’t enough room behind the R1’s mirror.

It was for a 2019 X3 using the Escort Redline 360C detector. Part numbers below copied from the order.

Aluminum Radar Detector Mount BMG-3032 Compatible with EZ Mag Mount Custom Fit
BMG-3032
Radar Model: Escort RedLine 360c, Vehicle Info (Year/Make/Model): 2019 BMW X3

Here are a couple pictures of it mounted.

I looked up pricing for a replacement cover before I decided to go this route (In case I messed up), and I'm glad I did. It's super clean, but unfortunately, my RJ11 mirror tap doesn't provide power anymore, and I tested two radar detectors. I ordered a new one, but I'll also check fuse F63 as well. Thank for for providing all this helpful information, especially the fuses!

What was the cost of the replacement cover? My clips are a little weak after removing and there are little gaps where the clips rubbed on the plastic.

Do you have more details you can share on how you did it?

Any particular detail you are looking for? As far as getting the cable down the back of the dash, I just used a fish tape, or you can use a metal hangar, then pulled the lower paneling to open up the area behind/ under the dash, and pulled the wire through that area. Mounted the V1 accessory adapter ( https://store.valentine1.com/store/item.asp?i=20240 ) where you see it in the pic, which can be used for any radar detector since the power plugs are the same. Then used a long USB-C cable to plug into the center console area and ran that cable between the inner and outer trim that runs along the center, which just pulls out from the clips that hold it in place. Hope that helps. Good luck.

Hey all,

First I wanted to just thank you all for your knowledge and posting, I was able to knock this project out in no time.

I used this mirror tap: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00L2SVV2U?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
Use the smallest pins, by the way here are 2 images for scale, they're pretty dang small.

I also discovered that if you set the Rivian Torch up on the floor pointed up, it perfectly spotlights the area of work, without blasting yourself in the face with a light.

Anyway, I hope this helps future modders.
