Do we think the r3 will be able to squeak out 300+ miles. Hyundai gets sub 250 on the Kona.

Everything will be speculation at this point. There were early articles mentioning "over 300 miles" ... "with the large battery" but a lot of things can change.

Everything will be solid-state in 2028, and we'll all be driving vehicles with 600 mile range. Or rather, our personal autonomous humanoid robots will be "supervising" our FSD vehicles so we can lounge in the back seat and be fed grapes while on a road trip. /s

But seriously, are we going to start speculating on R3 already?

Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.

The R3 has a 5” shorter wheelbase than the R2 and shorter overhangs. That means fewer structural battery cells can fit in there if they go with 4695s again, but it also means less weight overall. It sits lower, isn’t as tall, and has a sloped rear making it more aerodynamic than the R2 as well. I’d estimate it to have similar if not slightly better range than the R2.

It’s supposedly coming out sometime in 2028, according to RJ. I highly doubt it will have a high-end solid state battery due to the cost and speed of implementation via supplier availability. They’re trying to make it even more affordable than the R2 as well. Hopefully in the $35K to $45K range.

The reveal video did mention "at least 300 miles will be available on all powertrains", presumably the largest battery options.

Well, now that the R2 is just about ready to roll out, and most of the specs and prices have been released, we have a full year at least to speculate, wish, guess, and argue pointlessly about the R3's price, model line up, battery configuration, range, acceleration, colors available, launch edition features, cargo capacity, tow ratings, tire sizes, speaker count, audio quality, autonomous capabilities, whether a cherished feature will or will not be offered and at what cost, website configurator launch date, what production mule spottings portend, when customer deliveries start, and whether a particular individual should put a deposit down on a LE, wait a year, trade in their R1/R2, or just keep/buy a new/used R1/R2. Oh, yeah, and figure out the differences between the R3 and R3X, which is better, more cost-effective, capable, efficient, cooler, sensible, and cuter. Did I forget anything?😉

Nissan now gets 303miles with $29,990 Leaf.

300+mile range is ending up being the benchmark minimum. New car launches, you don't really want to be under that or you end up getting ridiculed like Toyota.
