This is why having engineering and manufacturing should be having cross meetings. I never allowed my mechanical engineers to cause a new part for no reason. If they had a handle on this they would have used the R1 part. It would reduce the cost of inventory and increase the availability. That’s just poor management.

... and the Identical thread the OP made on reddit
I'm the OP and I have never posted about this anywhere other than right here on the Rivian Forums, where I'm a site sponsor. Whatever Reddit thread you're referring to is not mine. Troll somewhere else.

I stand corrected, someone else linked your thread here on it. So I will clarify...

"The identical thead the OP made on reddit"

There, now you can feel better and continue with your outrage that Rivian didn't consider the impact to your aftermarket jack pucks when they designed the jack points on their new vehicle.

LOL. Unfortunately, people like you can't simply say I stand corrected. They always have to walk away defending themselves. Typical troll behavior....

Hopefully, we can stay on track with the new R2 jackpoint design.

Yep. People like that should just stay on Reddit, enjoy the cesspool of their making, and leave us alone.

I appreciate all your contributions to the forum and love the jack pucks you made. You do good work.

haha, I didn't find my way here from Reddit, I have been here from the beginning as well.

What are you looking for here? Short of Rivian making this engineering decision and considering all the aftermarket sponsors of the enthusiast sites, what would be your perfect outcome here?

This thread was not about the issues and incompatibilities for a third party solution. It was about potentially poor design and issues for owners to get their vehicles lifted at non Rivian places in the event of tire changes, state inspections or punctures.

Appreciate the kind words. People never cease to amaze.

The R2 jack point design has one notable shortcoming: alignment. Floor jack or post lift, you're either holding the adapter in place or carefully lining everything up for a safe lift. If a major tire shop can screw up the R1 version (far simpler), then this one has even greater potential. Is this some massive issue? Of course not, it's just a peculiar choice.

As a business owner who builds the interface tool, we can make another variety, no big deal to me.

I love Rivian because their car is like 95% perfect. But the remaining 5% is just baffling.

Another Example: I had to have a main HV battery swap because there are apparently some clock on the main HV battery that wasn't resetting on my HV battery which caused the car not to wake up for scheduled preconditioning. So Rivian spent 10k ish on a battery swap because of a cheap clock that was, for some reason, inseparable from the HV battery.

Edit: Don't get me started on the design of the 12V system as Mobile Service is right now replacing that.

As to this lift design - yikes..... I agree with @Mark_AZR1T - good luck changing a tire on the side of the road.

Your framing assumes a bias that simply isn't there. As DuoRivian already noted, this has nothing to do with Rivian consulting me or any third-party vendor. It's a straightforward observation, the R2 jack point design appears to lack end-user consideration. That's the point, nothing more.

From a business standpoint, I can build whatever interface is needed, so that angle is irrelevant. Hopefully you accept that, but who knows.
