Well the order thread has like ten people who have reported being able to order it 🤷🏻‍♂️
What people put in a spreadsheet isn't truth. It's 100% incorrect.

Clicking "request this build" just adds the configuration to your favorites and Rivian says they'll let you know when it's available to order.

Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.
I concur, my wife is waiting for launch edition borealis with white interior
Someone told me that Rivian sold the R1 Launch Editions for over a year (10/21-?/2023) until they hit 25K sold. I think Rivian is probably shooting for the same thing with the R2 Launch Edition.

In my opinion, I think the R2 Launch Edition will sell out faster than the R1 Launch Editions due to its affordability and pent up demand. Of course there is hesitation from some in regard to the availability of the RAP1+LiDar, but if you wait too long you’re not going to get all of the extras included, like Autonomy+ for the life of the vehicle (which will be feature limited at some point in the future), the tow package, and the key fob in Launch Green. That’s sort of the trade off.

On a side note, I wonder if Rivian will discontinue Launch Green and Borealis paint options after the R2 Launch Editions sell out, or will they continue to offer them with the Non-Launch R2 Performance, but call Launch Green, Rivian Green, like they advertised a while back? I used to think Borealis was a limited and exclusive color for the R1T/S, but then it popped up on the R2 LE. I guess anything can happen and only Rivian knows for sure.

They have said a few times (I believe in social media) that Launch Green, as the name implies, is a limited time color. I believe Rivian Green is what Pantone developed as their own paint, not what Rivian will call launch green moving forward (my understanding, could be wrong). No indication (yet) of Borealis leaving but it will be a performance exclusive color. I do hope they add Red Canyon once Launch Green leaves, but that is wishful thinking as they might honestly just keep narrowing colors down as demand eases.

I do think also that it is a educated guess that Launch Edition will be around for as long as it takes to add the lidar and new chip to the R2. A lot of people have speculated this and makes sense, but given the moving target (late 2026/early 2027), who knows really at this point. We'll see!

I’m hopeful for Red Canyon, too. It’s a beautiful color. They need at least one warm color.

Here’s a comparison of Launch Green vs. Rivian Green. You can see how Rivian Green looks paler in the sun, just like Launch Green. I was thinking that Pantone and Rivian worked together to develop it, so auto body shops would be able to replicate Launch Green more easily in case of repair. From what I read I think Compass Yellow was really difficult to match exactly, too.

So that special launch key fob means that much? :giggle:

Order Borealis + LP…
If Rivian says LP no longer available…. Order Borealis + tow + Autonomy+

Simple decision… (especially if you are planning on leasing)
