Hello all- I picked up my R1T on Tuesday and wanted to just provide a very PREMATURE update…I will go through the pro’s and con’s of a short 48 hours owning.
R1T, DM, El Cap, large battery pack, 22” sport dark, BM and Dark Ash interior.
I will start with the cons since there aren’t many (fingers crossed)
Now the positive
All preliminary information reporting, but I wanted to get something out there. So, when you hear me complaining about all the problems in a few weeks, you can't hold it against me...

- Locations: I can’t even explain how terrible getting to Brooklyn, NY is. It is an easy trip from Philly right up until the point you get to the Holland Tunnel. Check out the attached photo. One hour to drive 12 miles. And it took even longer than what the GPS said. If I have to keep going back there for service, no way can I keep it. I was praying that I would just make it out of NYC without getting hit. PLEASE open the Trenton location…signed everyone that has to drive to Brooklyn.
- Purchase Experience: In and out. You aren’t getting the Rolls Royce treatment. The dealership looked like an abandoned warehouse. There were no thrills about it. However, the paperwork was all completed, only a few signatures, and they took care of everything. NY road work so the truck came out covered in concrete mud from cutting up the street. My advisor on-site was extremely knowledgeable, but quick. I had no time to go through my check lists. This is my first EV so I was overly paranoid.
- Paint: I think this is common with most cars these days. There were a few minor imperfections, extremely small chip on the door, and two small dents on the bumper. I probably would have never noticed, but the ceramic coater picked it up and showed me. Not the end of the world.
- Wifi: Having an issue connecting to Xfinity router at my house, but support has been great. I hope to have it fixed by tomorrow.
Now the positive
- Guide: Was amazing. After my first vehicle was damaged in transit, she found me the same exact one within 48 hours. It was in transit by Monday and ready for pick up a few days later. Any questions at all that I had, she text me back immediately.
- Vehicle: If my R1T stays running and operating as is, it will easily be the best vehicle I have ever owned. Too many details to list. Everything about the overall vehicle driving experience is amazing. Kudos to Rivian on this. After reading these forums there are numerous things I worry about. The biggest probably being that 12v battery, AC working, or the vehicle bricking on me in the middle of traffic. I drove 100+ miles straight to tinting and then to work. I had no issues at all. The drive was smooth, no alignment issues, no noises, worked seamlessly through my phone, etc. So, I fully expect it to catch fire after writing this.
- Rivian Wall Charger (Included w/ purchase): Install was completed today. It took a couple weeks to get it, but the guide was all over tracking it. I had a seamless process with Qmerit sub’d out contractors. They did a very good job on the esthetics of the install. I have not been home with the vehicle so TBD on it working…
- Extras: Llumar Formula One Pinacle 25% on fronts, Air 80 on sides/rear, Stratos 70% on front. https://www.thewindowtintersnj.com . Can’t speak highly enough about this company. I was very happy with the install and working with them. Abstract Ocean screen protectors, and tow hook covers. Onyx Graphene Pro ceramic coating.
