R1S Delivery Update Email (June 30, 2022)

Same—2023. I’m a summer 2020 preorder for a Launch Edition. Black Mountain. White… to Washington DC where they have facilities. And that the window is a half year makes it meaningless. This is not only disappointing but also discouraging as an investor in the company.

Yep, same email ; new window first half of 2023. Won't cancel but likely will need to get something else by then. These delays are simply going to mean that some of us will end up buying and flipping to pay for the stock losses and this ongoing saga

Ouch. Think they are really prioritizing R1Ts over R1S, which is a shame because they are giving other EV companies a chance to catch up building a full sized EV SUV.

Same thing here -- Ordered November 2020, now pushed from Oct-Dec to first half of 2023.

I was just talking with my wife on what she wants to do. Not a lot of other EV options at the moment. We will probably put down deposits on other electric SUVs as they hit the market (XC90 EV, Polestar 3, EQS SUV, Ioniq 7 etc).

No sense in cancelling the R1S at the moment, but it is getting harder to justify. It also makes me more concerned about the survivability of Rivian in the long run. If they aren't delivering vehicles, they aren't making money. I don't want an $80k Fisker Karma.

Switching to an R1T is an option as well, but my wife won't be happy.

My wife thinks I'm an idiot for waiting around this long. Now with this latest delay I can't wait to see the reaction. Looks like it will be a smooth 3 years from pre order to delivery. Already looking for a new car. Not going to cancel, but no longer going to plan on having a Rivian.

Same here: first half of 2023. Our Land Rover (237,000 miles+ now) will almost certainly have over 250,000 miles by the end of June, 2023.

This means R1S Explore delivery is right there with a lot of EVs that are not even announced yet.

Who ever is handling the communications for Rivian should be fired for incompetence, or they should quit because the production side clearly has no clue.

Looks like i'm likely looking at a 2024 window for mine if you guys all got pushed to 2023. I didn't receive this email but I didn't expect to either, so I'm in it for the long wait for our R1S.

I was thinking the same thing: I hope that first half of 2023 gives us Ocean Coast folks the interior that we want.

My suspicion for awhile has been that the supply chain issues and production chaos is far worse than they’re saying or we can see. This is why they can’t be and haven’t been more transparent —investors will revolt and preorders will stall and shrink or vice versa. They’re playing the string out because they can but also because they have no choice. We’re just getting played as a result.
