Proximity lock/unlock weirdness

I am turning off proximity lock/unlock until Rivian can fix this.

Sitting in my trailer at a campground one night I hear the tweeting sound of my R1T locking. I locked it hours ago, or so I thought. I had not moved my phone closer to the Rivian. Wife and I both shut down the app. Less than an hour later it happened again. I do not know when it unlocked, but I know when it locked.

I am now in a park home at an RV resort (sightly further from the R1T)..same issue.

I am not going to have to shut down the app or turn off Bluetooth to totally prevent this from happening.

Rivian mobile service was out to look it, but did not really have an answers except for wiping all phone keys and adding them back.

Anyone else having this issue?

Sounds like perfectly normal behavior for Bluetooth, unfortunately. I would expect this.

I also feel that the proximity is a little flaky. For example, I set the schedule when I go to work, and often when I approach stormbreaker, even though I can pretty much hear the heating of the cab happening, so she's awake....the doors wont unlock when I'm right next to the doors.
So out comes out the phone to unlock her.

And any other time, I'm nearby in the driveway...either walking by or doing yardwork...and she's busy unlocking and locking away lol.
Part of her personality ?

I realize BT is the protocol it uses, but I assumed that quitting the app would prevent lock and unlock. It does not.

I had a recent problem where it wouldn't proximity lock/unlock no matter what I did. Manually locking/unlocking via the app worked fine.
A hard reset/reboot of the vehicle fixed it.

Tried that. Frankly I am sick and tired of having to hard reset/reboot every time there is an issue.

It used to, and I believe this was "fixed" in recent phone operating system updates. I no longer get the "key will not work" message when force quitting the app.

I am running the latest iOS 18.0.1. I get the pop up when quitting the app. You must have Rivian notifications turned off.

I've been on iOS 18.2 for a while. I just tried it and it did warn me. So I guess the change was a bug that is now fixed. I walked out to the car after closing the app, and it did not unlock.

Mine waits forever to lock when I leave vehicle. Like I can be about 100 yards from it before it locks....

I consider this to be my largest issue with the vehicle, therefore Rivian support. I have no answers, but I agree, I want results before something gets stolen from someones Truck or SUV.
I will make sure I lock the truck myself when I leave the truck when it has anything of value inside.
