I feel very fortunate that my late July delivery had the PTC installed already. I was pleasantly surprised!
I'm jealous! I was unpleasantly surprised to be notified only about a day ahead of my June delivery that my truck would not have the PTC installed.

I received my FF Portal 22' R1T last month it didn't include PTC, I was notified at delivery it would be installed at a later date. Received a call last week to coordinate install, and I have a date for next week. Could it be that due to the long install process they are staggering installs on busier SC's? my SC (Tampa) was opened March of this year so they might still have the bandwidth.

2025 Rivian R1T - Large. Delivered on November 23, 2024.

We're slated to test drive an R1T next weekend, after which I honestly believe (unless the vehicle is just not suited for us once we get behind the wheel) that I will be placing an order for one (leasing options are quite promising). Expecting to order a LARGE with the dynamic glass and I was contemplating a PTC bed cover.

I have discovered over many years of ICE truck ownership that the tonneau cover does help improve overall fuel efficiency, and would expect like results on an EV. $1,500 for an option that will not be available for the delivered product is not boding well with me. I also saw that the 1st gen R1T had a manual option. Is anything like / after market product available?

Not for power. Plenty of other options for manual, like the interrobang. @Bf3

Good to know! I have installed several after-market covers over the years. What I have seen in various YouTube videos of the after market covers (in these videos) use the "R1T PTC rails for mounting". Question: Are the rails part of the standard bed design regardless is I order a PTC or not?

Thank for the pointer - I looked at the Interrobang Automotive product. I like it! Booked marked it for future consideration (saving $150 or so bucks in the process works, too).

I'm not sure on that. There was a time when ALL R1Ts had rails, regardless of order config (PTC, Manual, None). They [Rivian] said they would change that and the vehicles configured without a cover wouldn't have the rails. I don't know if this has come to fruition.

Personally, I would opt for the PTC. When it works (for the record, my V.1 never failed, and I now have the V.2) it is phenomenal.

If that was due to a parts shortage, that's one thing... but if there's a V3 in the works it may have been for the best!

Welp… I pulled out my non-disappointment card this morning to laugh at… got the inevitable call… third time lucky right ?

My second attempt is rapidly approaching (Oct 1st) so I’ll have in the back pocket my non-disappointment card when they reschedule this by the sounds of it haha.
