Phantom alarm push notifications

I’ve been getting dozens of push notifications that the alarm is triggered on the app, mostly while parked at work. As far as I can tell, the alarm itself isn’t going off (I’m frequently close enough to hear it, and my assistant’s desk is literally 10 feet from my front bumper when parked). It has occasionally happened at home, but my motion triggered garage cameras don’t pick up noise or flashing lights (they will trigger for lock/unlock chirps reliably)

it has happened occasionally for a couple of years, but lately has been much more frequent.

I have a service appointment for this in a couple of weeks, but wondering if anyone has any insight. I’m hoping they reach out before the appointment and maybe look at the logs to see what the specific trigger is.

Just as a data point, I'm about to hit 4 years on mine and haven't had that happen. It'll be interesting to see what they figure out!

This has happened to me since purchase. It was really bad in year 1 & 2 and rarely occurs now, but I've never had a real alarm - they have all been phantom notifications.

Interesting. I've had this issue happen only since the previous update. I brought it into the service center and they blamed the phantom alarms on my hardwired install of my radar detector. Mind you that my detector has been installed since 2023 and I have never had this issue before. According to the service tech, the most recent update is more "sensitive" to voltage deviations.

Curious to see if you have any auxillary items installed on your Rivian?

I've had this happen a few times over the years. At one point, it was definitely being caused by the common AC compressor vibration issue, as it was 100% traced to pre-starting HVAC in summer. They did the TSB on this complaint, it stopped happening mostly. Meaning now, it happens once a month, but had been happening on 90% of pre-cooling remote starts.

Ok, that's interesting. It very occasionally happens at home, and doesn't seem to be related to preconditioning, but my garage is semi climate controlled so rarely gets outside of a range between about 55 and 80 degrees year round.

It's most frequent at work, where the car is parked outside but on the north (shady) side of the building. Cars don't often park near me as I'm in a reserved corner, and the spot next to me is also reserved so neither car moves all day.

100% what happens to us. Likely OP has a fly inside. I just vent the windows remotely and it usually clears up after a bit.

I have had that happen--this is new and different. Sometimes every 3 minutes for an hour. Leaving windows down doesn't help, nor does soft or hard reboot.

The actual car alarm doesn't go off, no lights, no horn. Just dozens of push alerts on the app.

I do have a Comma 4x installed for about month, but the issue predates that and has not changed. I also have phone charger/dock that's been installed for a couple of years.

I too have a Comma installed but like my radar detector, the installation of both my radar detector and Comma also predates my false alarms.

Mine have not been as frequent as you're reporting. Since the last update the alerts have been very minimal. (Down to once a week.)

Since the last message I’ve had -zero- alerts. I’ve been at my office (where 95% of the alerts occur) for about 4 hours now. None over the long weekend, the truck was parked outside an aircraft hangar exposed to weather and noisy aircraft without a peep.

It has very rarely occurred at home ( but never with the actual alarm going off) but not recently.

I do have an appointment scheduled, but hoping they reach out and look at the logs first to see which sensor might be doing it. I wish we had a way to DIY that kind of inquiry.

edit: literally as I was about to post this I got an alert. It’s something about my parking space at work.

My service appointment was delayed (the “diagnostic guy” was out sick, but I think I’ve figure it out, at least partially.

It reproducibly happens when my phone Bluetooth is on, the car is locked, and I’m walking around near the edge of Bluetooth range (roughly 45-55 feet through a few walls). It stops happening if I move to the back of the building, or if I turn off the Bluetooth.

As soon as I turn on the Bluetooth is starts back up.

Same behavior at other sites, as long as I’m walking around near the maximum Bluetooth range.
