Loud static heard by others when I’m talking in the Rivian with handsfree calling. People can barely understand what I’m saying. Took it to a Rivian SC. They said,” Yeah your microphone needs to be replaced. “. My phone works fine in my other cars for handsfree wireless calling. I have a SC appointment on 5/27. Then I paired my wife’s phone to the Rivian and her phone sounds great. Only difference is she doesn’t have PAAK. She doesn’t have the following on her Bluetooth. See picture.

she only has Rivian Audio.

I believe Rivian Phone Key, Rivian Sensor 1, Sensor 2, Sensor 3 and Sensor 4 all emit BLE signal from the phone and my microphone is picking it up

Thoughts ?

No. None of this is accurate. Bluetooth phone calls use the speaker in the Rivian, not in your phone. All of those Bluetooth devices in your list are on the vehicle and transmit whether you have PaaK or not. Your wife's phone is subject to the exact same Bluetooth signals as yours, regardless of PaaK.

Bluetooth emits at 2.4 gHz, significantly higher than human ears are capable of hearing.

Bottom line, PaaK has nothing to do with your call reception.

Read my post. The caller sounds great coming through the Meridian speakers on my iPhone and my wife’s. It’s how I sound to the caller. My wife’s phone works perfectly. The only difference is PAAK.

The mic isn’t picking it up - it’s interference from all the BT connections; I’m seeing the same with music streaming.

My music streaming is unaffected. 16 hour road trip without a problem streaming music. Only an issue when somebody calls me. 😀. They sound perfect coming across the Meridian speakers. They tell me I am being drowned by electrical static.

Again , my wife’s phone handles calls perfectly. She doesn’t have PAAK.

I read it. You keep down that dead end troubleshooting trail if you want.

Then what’s wrong with it smart guy ?
Good job posting to the right person this time.

As far as what's wrong? I don't know. There could be hundreds of things that affect it. You claim that the only difference between your phone and your wife's is PaaK, but in reality there could be hundreds of differences between hardware and software, even if they are the same make and model of phone. Not to mention potential impact of the actual call recipient, the carriers involved, location, geographic interference, cell towers in use, time of day, etc...

If you really want to see if it's PaaK, remove it from your phone but don't change anything else. See what happens.

On Android I had this exact problem where the receiver person got garbled sound. For me it turned out to be an adhoc bt app that was hammering the BT connection. Uninstalling the app resolved the issue. It was called briar but it's not available on iOS. It does peer to peer communication like airdrop, bertie or zombie messenger on iOS. Must have been just overloading the BT bandwidth trying to find a device to connect to.

Also the iPhone 15 has BT bugs causing carplay and call issues. The latest iOS just released seems to help. The other person on the call can also be a contributor so good to test multiple callers.

Anyone else having issues with Bluetooth calls? When I receive a call it doesn’t play through the car speakers for some reason. I’ll answer it on the Rivian screen but the call just goes through my phone instead. Tried a soft reset and still have the issue. iPhone 17 pro btw.

Delete the pairing on both the phone and car and then re-pair and see if that fixes it.
