Thanks for your help. The membership price kicked in as long as I followed the instructions given.
1-do not use navigation/charging on the Rivian to arrive at the destination
2-use tesla app to select station
3-then plug in
4-start from app charging.

A2Z responded regarding the extension cable they will be selling. However, it does not have a built in NACS adapter on one end. So you still have 2 NACS-one connects to tesla, and the other to your adapter then to your vehicle. Seems kind of crazy not to have one end already be a NACS connector and eliminate the need for an adapter? However, given how much space I need in order to connect …would be worth it to not inconvenience others waiting for the adjacent charger. Cost is approximately $300

You want to ensure that your R1 knows that it's navigating to a Supercharger to prep the battery. When you do use the R1 nav you should see a message the the battery is being prepared. This will save you time. You can do everything and before connecting just open the Tesla app and select the stall number and plug in when the Tesla app says so.

What?!

You don’t have to use in-vehicle nav to get to a DCFC. However, if you do, that automatically enables preconditioning, which will ensure better charging performance.

If you have Tesla membership, the only way for the charger to know that, and bill you at the lower rate, is to initiate session with the Tesla app, follow instructions, before you connect the Supercharger NACS plug and cable to your Rivian.

Don’t bother with extension cable. It’s an expensive thing Tesla has straight up said no to. It poses cooling challenges AND will negatively impact charging performance. Take up two spots, like Tesla’s own guidance says to do, or pick a charger that has extra room to the side or the other side. You don’t need the cable (not even available yet).

Do use nav to the station. Then start the session in the app, then plug in. That’s all.

Just park centered up with the station. Rivians don't need an extension cable.

Doesn’t work for all of the V3 stations. V4 is no problem. A lot of V3 or biases to the right of the parking space.
