In general, I expect Rivian to follow the Tesla model, which means higher trim vehicles ship ahead of base models. There may be incentive for Rivian to prioritize dual motor/small pack configurations to reduce part usage and get more trucks delivered, but that is still unclear.

I guess all EV manufacturers are going the same route. I've a Lucid Air Pure (Most basic config) on reservation but the options check like "dual motor" and "upgraded sound system" are available for Q4 delivery otherwise no specific delivery date. Literally forcing us to spend more money or else pushed further down the line irrespective of order date.

I'm honestly struggling to understand how a 2H2023 makes sense in your case when you have a config that's been seen by the literal truck load.

Yup... I haven't heard of anyone else getting pushed so far back after previously having a Q3 2022 window. Even customer service seemed a little surprised.

No harm in a reservation. If Rivian decides you’re up for whatever reason then if you want to get a r1t quickly you just pick whatever config they are producing. If you want a specific build and it’s not being produced you wait.
