Has anyone heard anything new about deliveries of pre-orders in New Mexico? I'd be really curious to know if anyone out there wth a pre-order but not the Launch Edition has gotten a delivery date. I got the "Processing Estimate" tag in the fall and then after realizing that I might have to wait years, I changed my delivery address to Denver. I plan to register the vehicle in NM and hope they won't balk at this. Also wonder if anyone has any new news about them potentially opening a service center on tribal land to avoid the dealership laws here.

I wonder how many pre-orders there are in NM and how many of us got "processing estimate" for our delivery dates. It's a bummer to hear about folks with much more recent order dates receiving their trucks just because they live close to service centers. Any advice out there? Just wondering what you all think before I reach out to Rivian again....

No news, but they are supposedly going to update us in January sometime. Likely the very end of January as that is their M.O.

My best guess is that a service center in NM is at the very bottom of their priority list, so if it happens it will be 2-3 years from now, best case. Also the charging network here doesn't seem that great for roadtripping at this point. So I made other plans and ordered a 4Runner.

I considered doing the Colorado address thing for delivery, but decided its not worth the risk of having to bring it up there for service multiple times.

New Mexico state law prohibits Rivian from directly or indirectly operating a service center. This has nothing to do with any perceived Rivian "priority". Because of the roadblocks put in place by your state, Rivian has to figure out an alternate way to service NM customers without going broke in the process, and that is going to be a lot harder and take a lot more time than opening a service center in a more welcoming state.

Yes, all of us in NM are aware of the crappy law. This law however does not apply on Pueblo land, which there is a crap-ton of in NM. Tesla figured this out and opened a service center on Pueblo land near Santa Fe. There are now Teslas everywhere here. Rivian is well aware of this and hasn't done so or announced any plans to do so. Land is cheap here, Pueblos have casinos and gas stations etc already and many of them are close to ABQ/Santa Fe, and many if not most of them could use the rental income. I see no reason it would be a lot harder or take a lot more time than opening a service center in an expensive city with tons of regulations like SF, LA, Seattle, NYC, etc.

So, it's pretty clear it is not a priority for them to have a service center here. Likely because they have plenty of customers in states with more people.
