Any idea yet the difference between the Amazon sets I ordered (posted above) and the ones you ordered? Besides $40 of course.
I believe those are identical as well (and the ones that are $40 more, conveniently, have a $40 off coupon you can clip on Amazon...)

I'll post pics post-install.

Well crap, didn't have that coupon last weekend. Just ordered another set and will return the others.

Side note, anyone want to go halveies on a second set for R1S so we can both have 3?

appear to be more aerodynamic (thin along front edge, thicker in back)
That's actually the opposite of what would be more aerodynamic. You want the thin edge to be the trailing one, to reduce drag/turbulence, like cross section of airplane wings.

Instructions state 220lb capacity
Important to distinguish whether that's a static or dynamic load.

That's how the wispbars are designed. Maybe they are mounted backwards?
If they can be installed both ways, worth experimenting with front and rear bar to see what orientations for each yield less buffeting.

Maybe I said that backwards… either way one side (the "front") is thicker than the other.

It doesn’t specify static versus dynamic. Just says 220.

Just finished install. Took my time and was about 30-45 minutes total. Other than the keyholes on the ends I like the look. Might have to paint those black.

Haven’t driven yet so no report on wind noise. No gaps in the bars so hoping it’s minimal.

Very nice. Do you think they will fit on the rearmost slot as well?

My Install Experience:

I proceeded with reckless abandonment and did not take my time. It took 39 minutes from unboxing to final locking.

Couple things to mention;
  1. There is zero branding on the instructions or the mounts themselves. I have no doubt the EVbase and the alternate Amazon ones that @Riv E In installed are the same exact product.
  2. There is an airplane wing shape/direction to install these and the post mounts will match the bars accordingly.
  3. The front mount and rear mount horizontal bars are different lengths. The rear bar is way too short to fit in the front roof mount points and the front bar is way too long to use in the very rear mount points. The front bar *might* fit the middle but it wasn't looking good for the angle of the ubolts. So if you want 3 of these, you'll need to get a second set and use the rear crossbar for the rearmost mount point.
  4. Cool feature, you can't leave the keys in the locks when in the unlocked position. This presumably would prevent you from driving away with the bars unlocked. Kinda cool.

Going to go test the wind noise right now. My reference are the Whispbars that I run on my Model S with 3D printing inserts to cover up the inside gap. Otherwise known as "the most expensive roof crossbars ever".
