I finally finished my DIY Camp Kitchen! I heavily copied EVLander’s build from his YouTube channel. Created a mounting point for the drawer slides and used extruded aluminum for the kitchen frame. Plastic is marine grade from Boat Outfitters and everything else is from Amazon.

It’s so nice to have a kitchen ready to go. Here are a few more pics and a video of it sliding in and out: DIY Camp Kitchen

Pretty slick!
80/20 should give you a nice lifetime discount!
Are those typical drawer slides? What brand/size?
Did you rig up some kind of locking device to hold the sled in desired position?
Thanks!

Aren't the slides mounted on the wrong side? Typically the weird part of the latch handle points down.

Yeah, it does appear that in this case they were mounted opposite of the original orientation

My guess is either OP liked to lift to unlock better, or was more concerned about it being closer to the front of the truck

Either way, the lock is spring loaded, not gravity latched, so it's not like this orientation is sacrificing function for form

I love the initiate dude!

How tall is the the drawer slide? / How much space is eaten up by the drawer hardware to the base of you kitchen setup?

Thanks!

I got these in the 60" size for the slides: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08DKCBX18/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The slides have a spring lock on one of them, so everything is locked fully collapsed and when its fully extended. They are 500lb rated so they can hold everything up, but I also added a leg for stability.

I also had a handle on it at one point and will eventually add it back on there.

Yeah, I preferred the lock release to pull upwards is all. Had a handle on there too at one point.

It's just a bit over 6" from the base of the mounting points to the top of the extruded aluminum. Quite a bit of height is lost from needing the extruded aluminum to be both the mounting point for the drawer slides and to mount the frame of the kitchen to it. I can't reduce the height on it because it won't clear the tunnel door.

I like your mounting system in your gear shuttle post. Much cleaner looking! Although, I'm assuming the weight rating on the drawer slides is a less than 500lbs?

Gotcha,

Yes and no...

The Drawer slides are rated for 500LBS, but I would imagine the week point in v2 would be 2 points:
1. the frame would be the 1/16 angle (local HD was sold out of the 1/8 and I didn't even realize til I got home)
2. I don't think I'd trust the self tapers to 500LBS

Hey OP, I know you mentioned that you took heavy inspiration from the EVlander build/video, but is there any reason why you decided to frame with extrusion as opposed to traditional pocket hole joinery?
