I was lucky enough to meet RJ at one of the very early events (have been a reservation holder for almost 3 years). He seemed like a class act. I was shocked at the price increase, and didn't change my config or cancel, hoping that they would reverse the decision. I expected a tiered structure something like: No increase if 3 years, $5k increase max if 1-3 years, $10k max increase if <1year. I was VERY pleasantly surprised this morning. No damage done, I might even be a bigger fan than before. Takes a great leader to admit a mistake and quickly pivot.

I stuck with my order for a few reasons... Didn't want to make a decision based on emotion [again]. My original reservation number was #1196... canceled due to a sudden financial issue that went away quickly but I thought at the time guide calls were eminent. Even though no longer had reservation, went to first mile drive anyway - was blown away. Asked to reinstate original reservation - no chance [worth a try]. Ended up getting back in line.
Today, I see 5 different R1T's in my hometown, the Forest Green one damn near every day [just 20 min ago on way home]. Looks awesome, especially at night. No chance I am going to make the same mistake twice, but I did order a Lightning Lariat ER to hedge my bets. Not going to cancel either one of them until I have to sign.

I did not pull my reservation or change my configuration because I try to not be reactionary to sudden events unless it is flight or fight. :0)

To me the magnitude of ineptitude that lead to the decision to raise prices up to 20% on your most loyal, devoted, and committed supporters made it inevitable that some course correction would have to be made.

So I vented a bit on the forum. Took a deep breath. Remained Calm. And Carried On...

I did not cancel or change anything in my configuration. However, I felt it was very unlikely I would have stuck with the purchase at the elevated prices - they were just beyond what I could justify or currently afford. I was pondering that maybe I would wait till 2024 when the lower priced options were available, but was pretty disappointed about that. So now I'm thrilled that there's still a chance I could get a truck later this year.

I didn't change anything. I was just contemplating if I want to downgrade some option to make the cost more tolerable. I was also trying to think of things to justify to the old lady for the higher price. Also, I only got in line with my order in Jan this year. I was also mentally preparing for a few more price hike when its my turn to take delivery.

Or like me are you just someone who will wait to make decisions whenever possible?
Pretty much. Could make a better decision when Rivian is ready to actually sell to me. Tieing up $1k a few more months not an issue.

Before the price increase no chance I'd back out, despite I'd never paid more than low 30k's for a vehicle.

I did not change my config. I figured 2 things
1) This is by far the most expensive vehicle I ever bought (except my RV) so I was going to wait for the guide call in Q4 to decide then if I really felt it was something I wanted to spend my hard earned $$ on. I justified the extra cost to get mine sooner due to all the cancellations.
2) I really don't need Quad motors, but the cost of vehicles and inflation are not going down anytime soon so unless they locked my 2022 price for 2024 what's to stop them from increasing again.
Im driving a friggin Kia Niro waiting for my R1S. Its fairly new and has low mileage but I really was looking forward to a family vehicle we could do some road trips in. Trying to stuff in my wife's BMW X4 is pretty tight.

Died of old age during the wait
I didn’t cancel or change - my config is pretty standard LE and I wasn’t about to downgrade to 2 motors to wait a couple more years (during which time I’d sink far more than $10k into my ancient wagon).

I called my local Volvo dealer to inquire about a custom-configured xc90 recharge - I’m picky about colors and options. But I found out it would be 6 months to get it, and after tax credits the price would have been about the same as my 95k LE R1S, so figured I’d wait a week or two to see what happened.

The increase was so boneheaded that I knew there’d be some concession coming.

Pure luck really. My bronco hasn’t been delivered yet. The delivery window was the 3rd to the 9th. My plan was to wait until i have keys in hand and make sure the dealer didn’t try some shady ADM on me. As soon as I had it secured I was going to cancel. I’m still going to buy bronco when it gets here, hopefully tomorrow, and see how I like it. Before I was going to flip pretty quick for rivian but now I will drive it for a while and strongly consider it. Because I still have lost some serious faith in Rivian. Yes RJ did the right thing, eventually. But I want to know what moron pushed so hard for the price increase and why on earth do they still have a job there. Even if it was RJ pushing for it. Beyond stupid.
But For now just wore out from the emotional swing.

Imagine if you had no cell service for the last three days and just got on this forum…..what the hell did I miss!

I left my LE alone. As I rode the emotional roller coaster I would go hunting for an alternative which quickly lead me back to.....not changing anything and choking down the new price. Did that like 5 times!!!! I am R1S so just nothing to move to in my opinion. With the R1T it may well have been easier to change config or bail.

I'm in the 2023 R1S camp so it didn't make sense to immediately pull the plug. I have 76000 miles on our MX 75D so it still has a lot of life left.
Plus, I was intrigued about the dual motor option. We do a lot of Colorado camping, but zero off-roading.

Sort of kind of related (it was quite awhile ago): while messing around w my configuration I somehow accidentally changed it to NoN-Launch! Didn’t notice for weeks. After a panic chat, they reinstated my orig order, supposedly, no problem. More related: on March 1st, got on another brief chat saying something like, “this is so bogus, breaks my heart, but I think I’m going to have to cancel.” Then I just sat on the bummer of it all for a couple days. She was very nice, said she’d pass on the bad news. So I Helped !! ?ML
edit: I’m April/May deliv & havent heard a word. Also the +$19k would not have broke me, just my enthusiastic lifelong advocacy Right?
& no change in my order, might have considered adding the tent, but now not
