I learned, by chatting with Rivian on the configurator, that the MAX pack will not be available for order until the fall. FYI.

I’m hoping for a minor refresh this fall, with some additions like a winch, new phone charger, another color or two and God help us a powered tonneau option. Not holding my breath, but they’ve been working on these things for a while. They’re coming eventually.

Does anyone know the size of the battery for the max pack? Is it still going to be 180? I also read it was going to be 150ish now..
390 miles is nice.. but for an additional 10k, it really doesn't make that much sense..
you can get 352 miles on dual motor performance for 5k.. (unless they do 5k more from the performance price).. then it would be intriguing.

Nothing official yet. Calculations work out to well under 180kWh.

This is interesting.... I operate my current R1T in conserve all the time. I get 303 miles of estimated range when charging to 85%. Doing the math that gives me 356 miles of range at 100%. If Rivian is saying an R1T with dual motor has a 400 mile range, then I agree it would make no sense for me to replace my current R1T with a dual motor version and max pack. Knowing the actual size of the MAX pack would be helpful.

Nothing new. Delivery windows for early Max Pack reservations were Sept~Dec. '23 at previous update.

Some folks are finding their front tires wear very fast when they drive in Conserve all the time. You might consider the cost you're saving in electricity vs. the cost of new tires. Some say it's best to use Conserve only at cruising altitude.

That's basically how I use it. All Purpose all the time for surface streets and short highway trips. I only switch to conserve after accelerating to 60+ on highway road trips, and real range is frequently 290+ on those trips (I have the AT wheels).

With a vehicle like the R1T, regular tire rotation is very important.

So is anyone with a pre-March '22 Max Pack reservation thinking of just bailing on Rivian and waiting for a Silverado WT4 with a range of 450 miles and a MSRP of $77,900? Kyle on Out of Specs had a glowing review of the Silverado WT.

It will not be 180kw as it would be too costly/heavy(200lbs per module). A 150kw pack will get them close to 400 & a 165kw will easily get them well into the 400's.
The Quad in conserve with 21" will go 359miles.

Why don’t Dual-Motor AWD and Performance Dual-Motor AWD vehicles have Conserve mode?

Dual-Motor variants use our Automatic AWD drive system. In All-Purpose mode and above about 19 mph (30 kmph), Dual-Motor vehicles are propelled by the front motor and front wheels only.

I think he failed to mention anything about the truly dismal payload for a full size truck due to the immense weight of the massive pack. It will also take a long time to charge at home. If towing a heavy trailer with a tongue weight of 700lbs the payload is reduced to 700lbs. Your work crew or family better be light and not have much gear to pack along.
