You know some of Rivian's earliest investors were Saudi as well, right? Abdul Latif Jameel owns nearly 115m shares.
I understand the point and should have been more specific.

Jameel is a second generation Saudi family business with major automotive interests internationally. They had/have some 115m shares of Rivian’s 957M shares outstanding.

The Kingdom of SA via their Public Investment Fund owns some 60% of Lucid. PIF is administered by MBS.

If Rivian had that kind of stake by that kind of investor, I would likely pass on their vehicles too even with Rivian’s vastly superior service network.

I think "vastly superior" service network is a stretch when it's just about 30 Rivians vs 20 Lucid service centers. Plus, at least the West Coast Rivian centers have been giving pretty poor experiences.

I’m going to check it out in person at the LA Auto Show, but I think this is going to be my wife’s new car / the family road trip car.

The interior is gorgeous, and access to the third row looks like a much better design than the R1S for those who have multiple car seats.

Definitely not a competitor to the R1S. That is a seven seater lifted wagon.
Currently the R1S is in a class of its own, until the Scout returns.
Lifted?
What's with that squashed back roof design... it's like every single new EV has to have it. Zero originality... ?
Mi/kwh. I don't mind it.

I'm curious how well the OLED screens are going to hold up over time with several static images. My 2019 Dell XPS OLED has fared quite well over the last 4 years, but I'm mindful of the OLED factor and will move things periodically to avoid burn in.

I'm a huge fan of OLED, but the durability still isn't there. My 2 year old samsung phone can attest to that.

It has a huge front trunk, with an F150 style opening. They also have pictures of it towing a large Airstream. Probably has good towing capability.

Nice features like folding trays for the second row, and a 6-seater option with captains chairs.
Those features are costly option eye candy. They just cut production numbers for the Air Sedan so this one should debut in 2026 if they are still around.
