This was similar to my experience. I don't remember them canceling and creating a new account, but my request did require escalation to another level like the one you describe. And several months later, they still haven't turned off access to my XM receiver (which I never really use, but occasionally check just to see if it still worksWell, I guess persistence and finding the right person to talk to pays off. I tried SiriusXM customer service again yesterday and expressed my confusion why the R1T was not compatible with my lifetime subscription. The rep created a case with their "Corporate Solutions Team" to provide an answer. To my surprise, they got back to me today and provided a solution. Rather than transfer the service, they simply cancelled my previous lifetime subscription on the old vehicle and created a new one for the R1T, all for the $35 charge.
One more First World Problem solved. Life can go on.
