I hate drilling plate holders onto cars. Always go with a non-permanent option, be it decal wraps (legal in CA) or aftermarket options that attach without drilling holes. Personally I'm using Snap Plate and it suits me fine.

Still waiting on my plates, but I bought the BuiltRight bracket in the meantime after looking at all two options. (I'm ignoring all the other amazon junk) The plate backing is machined aluminum, which is nice, but the clamp is plastic. Not super impressed given the clamp will experience more stress than the backing. However, I do feel it is the better of the two options.

At some point I'll quit being lazy and gin up a lockable design using an online cnc service.

I took delivery late march and still no registration sticker. I kept my plates from prior vehicle and they told me not to put the plates on until I get a sticker.

Just reached out from my guide about this... she said "they are working on submitting everything to the DMV".... so whatever that means.

Took delivery last week and when I was doing the final steps selected "do not" mount my front plate holder. Of course when I got home after delivery I noticed it was mounted. Wonderful

I would ask them to replace the bumper cover. Perfectly reasonable request given that your instructions to them are indisputable. You should not need to live with their error.

So in Texas, we need to have an external front license plate.

I saw this solution on amazon but it is $65. But the idea is great, with no holes and no issues with the camera.

Then I found these clamps and installed the plate. It took 10 minutes and the cost was less than $20. Same great result

BTW, I got my plate 1.5 weeks after taking a delivery via UPS

I was recently pleasantly surprised. I took delivery of my R1S June 10. My Pennsylvania plate arrived via FedEx on June 20 - just 10 days after delivery. Based on some issues reported here, I expected a lot worse.

They just called me and said they are coming out here Monday to remove the license plate and replace the cover so I don't have any holes. I didn't even ask them to. Thats some A+ service !

Chiming in for SoCal deliveries, chatted with my delivery specialist and he mentioned that even when folks opt-in to get the license plate holder mounted on the front, they'll wait until pickup to confirm in person before they drill. Good stuff. I was paranoid they would miss me opting out that I even reminded the service manager prior to pickup. This was the Costa Mesa SC.

Also, took delivery on 8/2 and got my plates on 8/17... possibly earlier since I haven't checked my mail for a few days. They've got the CA registration down pat!
