LE R2 No More Backlog

Anyway, why does it matter whether there is a backlog or not?

Probably implication that R2 sales are not as hot as predicted despite literally everything else indicating to otherwise.

News of the LE backlog's death have been greatly exaggerated.

I got the invite to order yesterday, and my reservation date was exactly on the same day as you.

If I had to guess I think it would be based primarily on distance to a service center and the current backlog of that service center.

At least that's the priority I would be going off of.

Wow, reading that day one reservation and still not invited, makes me feel bad: I put a reservation two weeks ago to lock in the LE but hoping not to order any time soon because I don't need the R2 now. Got invited on Tuesday to order with delivery times 6-10 weeks. Bummer.

You put in a reservation 2 weeks ago (and your $100 deposit), and you're saying you got your order invite this past Tuesday??? WTH....

Yep, put a reservation on 08/08/2026 and got the invite to order on 08/18/2026. Go figure.

I’m guessing there is an extremely strong correlation between physical location of the reservee and the capacity of the associated delivery center. For instance I had an expiring October EV lease but am located 175 miles from the Oklahoma City SC where I took delivery. That center has had very few deliveries and thus ample capacity to handle my delivery. I reserved May 28, Ordered July 28, and took delivery August 14.

If you’re located adjacent to an SC with potentially huge backlog, it goes to reason your invite might be delayed. Also, my R2 was transported from the factory by truck. Those being transported by rail might be experiencing logistical constraints that are causing serious delivery delays which might be cascading into delayed invitations.

Rivian said all along they were going to invite recent reservations too! And why wouldn't they? That encourages more people to reserve. It's hype, folks. And I don't blame them. They are in the "hope business" on the R2 at the current time, and look all the responses to this post. We'll done, Rivian.

I’m a Feb ‘25 reservation with a Sept/Oct order window. I think it has much more to do with location than some might think. I’m in the St Louis, MO area. If they are already delivering a high quantity near you maybe that’s driving some of the quick invitations?

Aren't you an R1 owner? They're giving them priority so it doesn't sound that crazy.
