I believe I've seen reports in the past of people experiencing a bump while in snow mode but lately while just in All-Purpose I've been getting a very noticeable brief lag like a slippage tthen bump/clunk as it kicks in. It's very annoying as it happens any time going from steady speed to accelerating and seems more noticeable going up hills. I've got a service appointment for late June. Gen 2 R1T Dual.

That's the rear motor engaging as power demand is increased. Well documented. Some have had luck with the rear drive unit being adjusted, some haven't. Most of us live with it, and just hope we get an "awd lock" button at some point in the future.

Snow mode, or reduced stability control will keep the rear motor engaged. Driver+ will re-enable the stability control though. Snow mode will keep rear engaged regardless, but reduces throttle inputs and reduces regen braking forces.

Currently no good answer.

I have had my 23 R1T dual Performance with Max battery in for multiple service appointments (5 so far) for issues related to drive train. Had the front drive axels changed as they made a loud clunking noise each time the vehicle moved forward or backwards.
Rear rear motor engaging ā€˜jolt’ started happening after an update and has not been resolved. Service center stated it is a known issue and may be addressed in a later update for the Gen 1 vehicles. I’m not holding my breath, just have to live with it or drive in Sport or Snow mode to avoid it.

Yeah, they told me it's a known issue and might get addressed in future update.

The rear motor engagement can also become very jolting when there is a 12V battery about to die. This just happened to me. Luckily, my 12V battery alarm came on and I was able to have it replaced within ~ 3 days. During that 3 day period, the rear motor engagement became very jolting along with other functions such as even opening the door working poorly (lag). With unstable 12V voltage lots of things will work poorly.

With hindsight, I now realize that in the past few weeks my growing concern for the rear motor engagement getting more slightly noticeable was likely related to the 12V battery.

After my 12V battery was replaced, the engagement of the rear motor is now as smooth as it always was (although I still personally prefer driving in Reduced stability mode).

Probably not your issue, but I thought I'd mention it in case others come through this thread.
