I made my reservation in December of 21. I am liking the orange in the red canyon better all the time. Been dabbling with charging stations and trying to figure out how they work…. took one trip to a “non-supercharger” to realize the waiting part of EV ownership sucks

I did find some paint flaws on the hood, put some Twrap sill protectors on it, pretty easy And totally worth it.

i was just called about a family matter that will require a 700+ mile road trip next weekend…. so let the lessons continue.

looking for a thumb drive for the drive camera, silly me thinking Walmart would have one (don’t knock Walmart, it’s the only store we have in middle of no where Georgia). Will be looking on Amazon tonight

Can you post pics of the paint flaws on the hood? I have a RC coming via train so I should have it end of August.

The first flaw I found was a Hair the paint on the passenger door sill which I could care less about.. the other is on the hood lip as it curls toward the windshield which will probably peel at some point . Still a beautiful color

Pic looks great but in person the Red is really great. I went with Limestone but could've easily chosen Red after seeing it up close.

That’s a great color. How is the rear lift gate/tail gate alignment?

The tail gate is off by less than 1/8 of an inch, I noticed right away because I was looking for it, if you weren’t looking, you’d never notice

Are the tail/backup lights the same as what folks are getting for the recall (red part protrudes)? Or are they still installing the original version and gluing extensions on for the backup lights (to make them compliant with regs)?

A lot of threads on storage solutions. Some folks got fancy and went with a hard drive, 90 degree angle connector, or other adapters.

Personally I just threw one of these in there:

Please keep us updated on what they do for that paint issue!

That appears to be the same 100% compliant version that is being installed at service centers for the recall. On the original R1S version (same as past and present R1T???) the red and clear parts were flush with the black plastic bumper facia. The temporary fix (started end of March '23) was to glue a clear plastic extension (the "nipple") onto the backup light lens. The new version still has a "nipple" but not as long/deep because the red part has been extended.

For the record, here's why there was a recall in the first place. FMVSS 108 requires that backup lamps must be visible from multiple different viewing positions behind the vehicle. One of those positions is 3 feet behind the vehicle and 6 feet above the pavement. The R1S has a different bumper than the R1T, and the shape of the bumper on the R1S obscured the backup lamps at that viewing position. Seems like a petty little violation of the minutia in a US regulation, but the rules are the rules. NHTSA did not give Rivian a "pass" on this violation. So it became a recall that NHTSA is monitoring.
