How on earth… R1S rear camera has a sprayer???

After a furious night of PMing (thanks guys) I’m ready to test the sprayer in highway conditions tomorrow. I hope it will be OK in maximum wind. Definitely going to have Driver+ engaged for this one. Someone at Rivian must have played a loooot of Contra.

Don’t have a R1S but I’m assuming from all the washer fluid pouring down the back that it comes on with the rear wiper sprayer. You might need to keep spraying to pump the fluid all the way through for the first time.

I just kept pushing the rear wiper button (bottom button on the stalk) and eventually it squirted. It potentially may take some longer than others to prime the pump and squirt.

A few of our cars have had something similar. Some have done it every time the washer runs and others have a cycle like once every 3 or 5 sprays.

Still patiently awaiting my R1S so no first hand experience here.

This was a big surprise when I noticed it a couple months ago. It’s a nice feature. I just happened to wash the rear window while backing up and saw it on the screen.

I this is easier to integrate it with the wiper and tail gate if the R1S. More difficult with the T since the sprayer and reservoir would only be for the rear camera.

This makes the most sense to me. Seems easy to implement on the S due to it already having a line going to the rear window sprayer as well as a switch to activate it. Would’ve been more expensive to put it in the T as well. Sucks because the rear camera on my T stays clean for about a day before it I need to wipe it. Hopefully it means that they will get the latency issue resolved to be able to use the bed camera which looking at my Gear Guard recordings stays clean all of the time.

I didn't realize that this was a big mystery to everybody. I've been using mine for a couple of weeks. Most of the SUVs I've owned in the last 10 years or so I'll have them and they are activated by running the rear washer/wiper. Some have had them for the front cameras and you run that by running the front washer/wiper

Damn I would have totally paid extra to have this feature on the camera for my T. It's always dirty. Like someone else said though hopefully they will just let you switch to the bed camera.
