I'd be happy if Rivian put more useful infomration on the current display. Like the speedo in the center and get rid of the useless cats and dogs walking on side of the road.

While i've never personally owned a vehicle with a HUD, i've driven several with them and understand the appeal and merits of having it. But if it meant giving up the drivers display to have one, would you still want it?
For those who insist on having one, there’s no reason one couldn’t be designed into the dashboard top AND keep the display. It’s about a 6”x6” cutout...obviously not retro-fittable.

Went to Hawaii in November and rented a BMW M series coupe and it had the HUD. Super nice and informative with lane change assistance arrows and some more advanced HUD type things. I would absolutely love to have something similar. It came in super handy when navigating roads that we had never been on before.
Sure, why not?

of course both could exist, it was more just a "if you could only have one and not the other, which would you prefer?"

I would certainly enjoy a HUD and a digital rearview mirror (especially with the R1T)

Rented a car with HUD while traveling over Christmas, couldn't wait to find the switch to turn it off.

The HUD on my Nissan Ariya EV is wonderful. It should not make replacement of the window screen any more expensive and it does not replace the driver's display.

Speed and driving directions would be useful for most people.
So everyone is bitching about driver assist but they need to see the speed on their windshield.?

As another poster here has said, I drive with polarized sunglasses and can barely read a HUD because of it so it has little use to me. Then again I don't bitch about the driver assist either so IDK.

Modern HUDs will show you surrounding cars to help merges. And they will show directions from your map app pointing you to the correct road or exit to take. All without taking your eyes off the road. It’s pretty helpful.
Mirrors do that too. Contrary to popular opinion, one DOES have to take their eyes off the road

ah, of course! My bad

Modern HUDs do NOT show vehicles around you! Your eyes do that..don’t know who told you that..they did you a disservice..
