Nice, I searched many places. Found the R1S, black on black, quad motor with large Battery. Would have been sweet to find a Max but not sure that was available when this was built.

Expand your search. I found several similar builds in New Orleans, St Paul MN and other places. Pick it up and enjoy your first Rivian Adventure.
There are exactly 3, max battery equipped R1S, that I can find across the country for sale. None even close to me. The max battery is a deal breaker. I know its more expensive and incredibly more expensive per KW compared to the large battery but that extra 50+/- miles is needed. It is the only reason I am pulling the trigger. If I could find a good used one for a good price somewhat near me I'd seriously think about that instead of a new one.

On another note, I went into the SC today and they were EXTREMELY helpful. Took care of everything I needed and then told me the shipper on my R1S cancelled so its still sitting in Bellingham. Big bummer but hopefully in a couple weeks I will have it. Its already been through the PDI.

I have been reading how fantastic most peoples "Guide" experience has been. I have to say mine has been somewhat disappointing. I've had a couple of questions since putting my deposit down on a "shop" R1S (edited) a week and a half ago. First email to them went un-answered and I ended up going in to the store to ask the questions. Miraculously about an hour after I left the store a guide (not mine) emailed me back. Then the next day another guide, also not mine, called me to verify something. I messaged my guide with another question early yesterday and ... crickets. I imagine the layoffs are affecting customer service but not instilling a lot of confidence! Am I expecting too much?
Honestly the Guide program was a good idea, but in practice is a waste of time and money. They need to get rid of the program and focus resources elsewhere

My guide has been nice but the interactions are brief and IMO, they miss the opportunity to really build loyalty. Some things I have had to learn to accept;

  1. pre-order I couldn’t get a solid quote on trade in - had to go to CS
  2. finance questions are a Chase call center runaround
  3. deposit was/is ā€non-refundableā€
  4. vehicle delivery window is very vague. Guide can’t/doesn’t offer much insight beyond ā€œa few more weeksā€ < imo, they should have more capabilities here.
  5. I was/am willing to upsell to a different model if it was on a SC lot and I could get it sooner. They,ve done very little to pick up on that.

otoh, the guys they had staffed at the experience center were great. Really chill and enthusiastic ambassadors of the brand. I wouldā€˜ve bought on the spot if they allowed direct sales.

So True ! Trying to get straight answers from Guide is like pulling teeth. Been configured for 4 months and can't get a straight answer on any kind of delivery date.....keep telling me to go to store. Getting very weary and losing excitement.

Not defending him, because I hate the guide system as it sits now...

That said, he isnt far from the truth. Store is the fastest way to get one. Other than that, it all comes down to when they decide to build the batch your configuration is compatible with.

I changed my config from 20" AT Bright to 22" Sport Bright, and my build date went from 3 months out to the next day.

as Tollkeeper said, I'd get one out of the store if you're in a hurry. You can also tell them your preferred SC's and they'll be able to see what's on the lot. If you find one local, you can get it in under a week (I did).

Took delivery on Friday! The "coolaid" is good!! Love this car!

My guide was extremely responsive the day before the pickup appointment. Mostly trying to get everything signed. Now, lets see if they are responsive about any questions I have after the sale.
