My GPS started acting wierd (fragmented, loss of GPS signal), so bad my main screen would black-out and reset. After two visits to SC and providing time stamps of the black-out events, the SC found in the data logs my external USB-C stick was corrupt. After removal of the Sandisk stick, it has been solid, GPS and overall main screen.

Try removing your external USB-C to see if it helps.

This is what I had: SanDisk 128GB Ultra USB Type-C Flash Drive - SDCZ460-128G-G46,Black

Yay! If the release notes for the upcoming 2024.47 software are to be believed, this bug will finally be fixed!

Fixed a rare issue that caused the vehicle’s position in the Navigation app to erroneously shift or jump when the vehicle is coming to a stop.
I don't know if I would call it a rare issue; it was very repeatable for me!

My R1S was having this problem 100% of the time. While it was at the service center last month, they deep-cycled the 12V batteries and somehow that resolved the issue. It has not happened since. Does not really make sense to me and I was skeptical, but it did resolve the issue.

I am glad to see they are fixing this in the software update - it was pretty annoying.

I quickly learned NOT to look at the driver's screen for a few seconds after stopping at a stop light. Problem solved! :)

(TBH, I haven't had this issue for a while now. Seems like it was fixed a few updates ago.)

Same here. Haven't seen it in a while.

My understanding is: if it's not been resolved with a software fix, there's potentially an issue with the actual telematics system that requires replacement (hardware issue). I know there were a few folks (the first time this was due to be resolved) who had persistent issues and ended up getting some components replaced, which eventually remedied it.

Bottom line: if you're having continuous, repeated, and persistent issues of this sort, I'd open a service ticket (and attach video of the behavior).

Just a follow up. So I pressed them hard for the telematics replacement based on some comments here. They were not against it, but they really wanted to do the deep-cycle of the 12V first. I agreed knowing that that was a precursor for me to have the telematics components issued. To my surprise, their plan worked and there has not been a hint of the problem since (for the last 6 weeks or so). I think they must have some suspicions around the issue. Otherwise, cycling the 12V seems pretty random to me...

The 2024.47 software didn't fix the issue for me. I guess I'll have to open a ticket.

This was a clip I captured when I sent in the ticket. I assume this is the same issue that others are or have had.

I had the exact same problem. Mobile service solved it in less than an hour by disconnecting 12v battery (I don’t know which one). No issues since then.
