I’m not sure if I’m the only one, but it seems the 2023.34.0 Software Update fixed my GPS jumping! It hasn’t been happening since I updated Friday night and I just successfully used Nav without crazy re-routing!

Whats stange is I dont see this happen if I’m just looking at the Nav without a destination. Seems to track normally at all stops if its not actually routing anywhere

Mine's gotten better, but totally intermittently it still acts up

This weekend when coming to a stop light, the gps thought i had gone straight through the intersection and was showing that I needed to do a U turn to get back on the correct path the navigation was showing. Also, I have notice this when stopping without nav on and the gps shows me continuing on for a sec or two and then backs up and shows the correct location.

Hope Rivian will issue a specific fix for this as shown in the comments above that it doesn't seem that this issue has been fixed. Not completely anyway.

That used to happen to me all the time. Drove me nuts.

I swear, though, mine has mysteriously been fixed since installing the latest software update. The only other thing done to the car was getting my rock sliders the next day, but I can't imagine that had anything to do with the fix.

I really hope this gets fixed for everyone else soon. It is a truly maddening glitch.

Just picked up my R1S this past weekend (VIN 20,xxx) and I've got the GPS hunting/bounce etc. Vehicle is running 2023.34.0. Interested to see if it will be fixed by software or it's a service visit.

For what it's worth, 2023.34.0 had absolutely no effect upon the GPS hunting issue I'm experiencing, consistent with your experience. Again, it's bizarre to me that this is even a "thing", considering how much experience exists in the industry with GPS tech in cars. The last time I saw anything like this was in my 2001 Acura CL, the navigation system of which I was completely wowed with at the time. Ironically, that cars inaccuracies aren't as bad as what I'm seeing in my two-decades-newer R1S. ?

A quick update: as noted above, the recent software update didn't immediately fix my GPS positioning issues. However, about a week ago, I noticed that the issues had resolved spontaneously. Beyond the update, the only other change is that I put a couple of hundred miles on the vehicle. The latter could be relevant if some kind of calibration (e.g., satellite to wheel sensors) needed to occur. At any rate, the navigation system is much more usable now, as the constant rerouting that occurred when coming to a stop is no longer occurring.

Volvo had an issue where water was getting into the area where the antenna is. When that happens it would interfere with signal reception until the antenna dried out. I'm not sure if the Rivian sharkfin design is subject to that same issue though. Volvo's fix was to replace the foam sealer.

This still appears to be an issue. I just picked up an R1S, software version 2024.11.03, and it has the problem described above. The map position often jumps ahead a few hundred feet when slowing or stopped at a stoplight and reroutes. A few seconds later it will jump back to the proper location and reroute again. This is pretty irritating. Wondering if anyone has gotten this problem fixed?

Mine did that from new (Sep 2023) but was fixed by a software update (I forget which one) but the release notes specifically called it out. Per Wassym on Reddit, it's not a software issue, it's vehicle specific but he thought (at the time) that it could be fixed by software and indeed it was for me. I would try the usual reboots and log a service call if not fixed.

This is still happening. Software update and hard reset did not fix it at all. Ridiculous that this is so common and nothing has been done about it.

I had the exact same issue on a new 2024 R1S. The problem was there on delivery but I didn’t notice until I was on my way home. Location was generally fine when stopped or driving, but when coming to a stop or easing forward, my location would suddenly jump forward by maybe 1/10th of a mile. This was extremely irritating because it would often cause the GPS to reroute and made the proximity garage door feature nonfunctional.

I was unable to fix with multiple hard or soft resets. Mobile service was able to fix it for me in about 45 minutes. They said all they did was disconnect the 12v battery for about half an hour. That was 2 months ago and it has been rock solid since.

Which specific 12V battery? I will set up a mobile service for this. Thank you as no one has been able to offer a solution.

I have had this several times. They had to replace the Telematics module.

At one point, I was a beta tester for the new "Submarine" mode:

Did the telematics module fix the issue? I have the same thing going on in my R1S.
