I would like to know if they are compatible with the other way. I have a set of 22" darks on my Gen 1 now that I was planning on taking off before trading the truck in ( I still have the 21's the truck came with) so that I would have an extra 4 rims and tires for my gen 2 if I go that route. If I cannot use those rims that would suck.

My old wheels! ? I kind of miss those haha

Though I like the new range wheels too if they’ll fit my Gen 1

They are still lookin good and the Michelin defenders I have on them are wearing much better than the stock Rivian tires do.

Gen 2 aero wheels fit with no issues on my Gen 1 T. 22in wheel is larger than the 20s so I didn’t see any brake clearance issues.

Just last month the Boston SC told me they definitely wouldn’t fit. This explains why they couldn’t explain why ?

I don’t get why Rivian doesn’t just say these fit Gen 1?

I’m not surprised but I am disappointed (in Rivian).

Glad to know they do fit.

When I talked to the service manager in Colorado Springs he said he was told not to allow interchanging wheels from G1 to G2 but also wasn’t told why. The only thing we could think of is there is some slight difference in the weight capacity, and G2 does weigh less. Though I argued the GVWR is the same so that shouldn’t matter. We both shrugged shoulders on this one ?

It’s really dumb of them to restrict this, because they could likely sell the newer wheels to G1 owners and make some profit on that. I guess they want to entice people to trade up instead. ?‍♂

I thought somewhere it was brake caliper clearance. So these totally fit fine?!?

Good to know!

I’ve been waffling between finding a set of 20”s and buying a 275/60/r20 tire or trying the new 21” Michelin Defenders.

Its annoying that they abandoned the 21” wheel size so quickly.
with everyone on the forum complaining about tire availability and/or frantically ditching them for 20s is no surprise they too ditched them.

Nokian now has 275/60R20 R5 Winter tires in the 116 load index.

Looks like they also have the 275/50R22 with 116 too.

You can send dinner vouchers my way...

I have the R5 in 275/50R22 and they’re fantastic. We’ve not had winter weather other than freezing temps and the grip improvement even in wet is exceptional and that’s compared to Outpost nAT 275/60R20. The R5 are also incredibly quiet (a nice change for us for winter as we used studded Hakkapeliitta on our Volvos - just hope the R5 live up to their improved ice traction claims, I realize they won’t be as good for steering but they better be for going and stopping).

Total speculation.

Here's my speculation: G1 doesn't have G2 wheels in the computer, so can't "update" it like they "require" of others. And visa versa.

They fit with zero issues. Here is my Gen 1 with Gen 2 Aero Wheels that I customized to all black.
