Sorry for the bad video. I unsafely took while driving, but felt I had to capture this weirdness. I should have waited to take with a passenger in the car.

Is anyone else seeing flickering street lines in the navigation screen that creates a motion effect as depicted in the crappy attached videos?

I haven't noticed that, but I also use satellite view. Do you get the same effect if turning on sat view?

I have noticed the same thing as the OP. I also get the same effect sometimes on my PC in certain games when there is a refresh rate mismatch. Nothing we can do but file a service ticket if you would like Rivian to look at it.

I haven't seen this personally but it looks like an antialiasing issue or similar, I wonder if something in the graphics stack is just bugging. Maybe try a soft reset and see if that helps?

Mine was doing this the other day. I did a soft reset and it did not help. I tried it a second time and it solved the issue.

I filed a ticket a couple days ago. Was just wondering if anyone else was seeing it

I’ve actually done 2 full resets this week to try to fix another issue, my L3 charging is not working, and I’m still getting the motion effect (and my L3 is still not working).

It’s actually on streets in the distance. The effect seems to disappear on nearby streets. I was wondering if my display is funky.

My list of issues is unfortunately becoming somewhat lengthy. All are minor, though, other than my inability to L3 charge, but that’s a different topic.

I've seen it a couple of times, they need to change how they are doing the sub-pixel processing on them.

I'd be very surprised if this is a hardware issue. The reason you're likely seeing this on streets in the distance is that it's an antialiasing issue which is present where details need to be drawn at subpixel scale to appear continuous.

This is super common in computer graphics - fundamentally pixels are etch-a-sketch style and you can't draw e.g. a true diagonal line, only a series of stepped lines - so you have to shade in subpixels to give the illusion of diagonals/curves at fine levels of detail. (Grossly oversimplifying but you get the idea).

On large features this isn't an issue (it would appear as some artifacting/shimmering around edges or fine details, but doesn't stand out), but on fine features like diagonal lines or curves it is super obvious.

It looks like for whatever reason, this isn't working on part of your display. That could be a configuration problem, a temporary bug in the display stack, etc., but is super unlikely to be hardware.

@kylealden have the full detailed answered I didn't type on my phone. That's what Rivian will need to solve.

Are you sure you’re not doing this while looking at the screen? Just brainstorming…
