That’s cool. I watched a video on YouTube where a guy borrowed a friends Quad and just pulled people out of the snow all day. It looked fun. I’m glad you and your Rivian served those in need.
Robert from Aging Wheels?

He has been a huge promoter of Rivian for a while, regularly wears Rivian shirt or hat on his videos that have nothing to do with Rivian. He doesn't even own one!

He was involved in the "Cannonball Run in a modified Rivian" attempt, too.

Three pages of comments and no one's asked you to pull the Gear Guard / drivecam video yet? 😆

Good work!

Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.

Yeah, that’s the guy. Such a fun video. I want to do that with my Rivian someday, but I can only afford the R2 and it’s toe limit is 4,400 lbs.

If all you're doing is pulling vehicles out of snow, you can pull more than the tow rating. That's the rating for when you're towing long distances at highway speeds, and is mostly based on stopping power (brakes,) not vehicle power.

Gotcha. So the instant torque, HP, and tires are more important than the tow rating?

If all you want to do is move a heavy thing a short distance at low speed, torque and frame strength are all that matters.

And torque isn't even *THAT* important - the 1981 Ford F-350 was rated to tow 8000 lbs with an engine that produced only 135 hp and 240 lb-ft of torque. That's far less than the *single-motor* R2 will have. People would regularly tow things with sedans in the 60s and 70s that had less than 120 horsepower and less than 200 lb-ft of torque.

Today, I took the risk of helping a Hummer get out of a snow mound. I helped since I saw them avoiding rear ending another car that suddenly stopped. traffic was barely going 15 mph.

Since I was behind him I gave them some time and space to try to reverse out, but he could not. When I asked him if he wanted me to help, he said he did not want to damage my pickup with the weight of his hummer. I told him, I had not done this, but was confident I could handle the weight of his truck.

it took a few tries, since he had dug his front wheels, but I got him out. He wanted to pay me. I said, no worries I needed to try sooner or later. Haha

It was only an h3. This is a pic after I helped him. He was almost on the service pole to the right.

Nice work getting him out! Pulling something that heavy can be tricky if it's dug in deep, but these trucks have more than enough torque to handle it easily. Glad there was no damage to your rig. It's a great feeling when you get to use that capability to help someone out.
