Received my Lectron Vortex Plug supercharger adapter hours before a planned trip from north-central Maryland down to Richmond VA for our daughter's graduation. We had plenty of juice in the R1T to make the drive with plenty to spare, but driving around town left us low enough that I decided to take advantage of some downtime in the late afternoon. Looking at my options, I saw that there were a couple options NE and SW of town, roughly equidistant, but the one SW was 6/8 occupied and the NE one was completely unused (0/8). Wanting to avoid potential drama, I chose the one NE of town.
Arrived at the station 15 minutes later, excited to see the supercharger stalls completely empty. Even better, the last (far-right) one was adjacent to an air pump stall. I snagged that charger, positioning the truck so the air pump was still accessible.
Plugging into the Supercharger with Lectron's adapter was uneventful. The NACS plug seated firmly into the adapter, and I confirmed the latch was working as intended (Lectron had a well-publicized recall on the safety latch but mine is working as intended). I plugged the CCS end of the adapter into the R1T and was very happy to hear the sounds of a Supercharger whirring into action. By the time I took two steps to view the dashboard, it was already charging the vehicle.
Manually stopped the charge at 85% after a 36-minute session. I'm not an EV charging expert, but from a layman's perspective, it was a very pleasant experience. Nice to be able to take advantage of Tesla's charging infrastructure again after having sold off my Model Y a few years ago. I know Lectron was taking some heat for the recall, but IMHO it was worth the wait and I'm very pleased with their product. AMA.
