Took a pretty gnarly road to a trailhead over the weekend. I was super careful and used my cameras, but I guess I slipped off a rock at some point and bashed my wheel. My guess is it happened while crossing a creek.

I'm bummed but I guess it was going to happen sometime when you use the Rivian to its potential. Guess I need some 20s when these Defenders wear out...

The one time I actually did some rock crawling I took a gash out of the black plastic trim under the passenger door. Luckily your rim can be replaced and so can the trim. Beats body work.

An alloy wheel repair specialist can make that look new again for a reasonable price. I think they use Bondo and paint.

yep…your rims and tires weren’t designed for rock crowding. I would almost be even more worried about destroying your soft road purposed tires. If it makes you feel better I doubt the 20” wheels would have fared much better. Large rocks tear up rims….I have a lifted Jeep Wrangler with plenty of scarring, often from fairly mild trails. A good wheel guy can fix for about $150. Glad you are enjoying your new ride.

Wasn't really rock crawling per se, just a very rocky forest road. The Defenders are surprisingly capable for a road tire, and I aired down to around 32 psi to help. I may get it fixed but then it may happen again...

Put it on the passenger side and wait a couple of months. If it still bothers you then, get it fixed

Definitely a battle scar.. if someone asks what happened.. tell them the truth- you were off-roading on a rocky trail and let it go at that. I have several on my black rims..
