Cancelled my reservation today. Was always going to get the R1T anyway, but even if not, I didn't get invited to 2022 despite placing my pre-order within minutes of them opening ?

Don’t feel bad. Your spot was worth $10,000 to 30,000 to the dealership

For people who didn't get in, its still worth holding onto the Lightning reservation, unless you are an LE R1T holder. We don't know if Rivian will get to the non-LE deliveries this year, and if you really want an EV truck, Lightning might still be your quickest path, especially if they can ramp up production massively next year. I should be able to take delivery of my Lightning in June or July, but I'll probably hold onto my Rivian reservation, just in case there are issues with the truck that will be too frustrating to deal with, like some Mach E holders had.

Yup, just got that email a bit ago. I have heard zero - nada - nothing from my Dealer since I placed the reservation on the opening day. No better or worse than Rivian, I guess. I'll hold it open till Rivian delivers, or changes pricing again, lol.

Yea I got a call from my dealer that they expected me to be contacted about placing my order “soon,” in January. (I replied “oh brother.”) …this is the first I’ve heard since.

And what would you have done if Rivian didn't reverse course on pricing?

I'm so over this pre-order crap and waiting three+ years to get a car. I miss the old days of going to a dealer and driving home a new car that night. Making me decide what I want three friggen years from now is just getting old. Something looks exciting when its released, then during that 3 years, others release something that's better and makes you want that instead. At this pace, will just keep waiting forever and ever.

I've placed deposits on just about all of them. Pretty much now down to, whoever can deliver first gets my business. I was fortunate to be able to place an actual order for the F-150. Unless Rivian shocks the world and manages to call before then to convert my reservation to an actual order, looks like the F-150 is what I'll be driving for a couple of years.

Well, they are over for the limited 22 model year, not “for the year” since the next shot will be ordering 23 models in a few months.

btw, I changed my dealer yesterday and found out something interesting. I got my $100 back from the original dealer and Ford doesn’t charge you again. So reservation stands but now it’s at no cost.

I placed an order right after the event ended and did not receive and invitation to order either.

I found my original dealer, who had sent me a few meaningless emails in the Fall, was charging ADM on Broncos, so I switched to another local dealer who confirmed they would not be adding ADM to Lightning orders. I emailed them twice to pay the $100 and they never reached out. My reservation is still valid on the Ford website.

Regardless, Rivian has always been Plan A for me. Even after the short lived price hike I was changing my configuration to get the price down to within my original budget.

My Lightning reservation remains a backup - and I got my original $100 back.

I literally answered this in the post you quoted...
