One important step I need to take before my R1T is delivered is setting up charging at my house. It seems to makes sense to go with an EVSE rather than a simple 14-50 receptacle, and I think I'll be fine with 40 amps.

There are any number of choices in EVSE's and quite a few of the lower-priced units seem to get good reviews. I've tentatively selected the following, three of which are on sale for at least the next several days. Would very much appreciate any feedback on the selections from the folks on this forum.
  1. Wallbox Pulsar Plus Lv 2 EV Smart Charger ($450 - Costco on-line sale through 5/31)
  2. JuiceBox 40 Amp Electric Vehicle Charging Station ($400 - Costco on-line sale through 5/29)
  3. Grizzl-E Classic - ($350 - Amazon)
  4. Autel Home Level 2 EV Charger ($400 - Amazon limited-time sale)

I have a Juicebox and would not purchase it again. Software for the connected control of the Juicebox 40 charger has gotten worse since Enel X bought them out. Check out the State of Charge channel on You Tube for good reviews of almost evey charger on the market.

I have been charging from a 14-50 plug (Hubbell Industrial grade) for over 5 years on two different vehicles and it has been plenty fast.

I went with the Wallbox. It has worked perfectly from day one and doesn’t take up a large amount of wall space being quite small. The app is pretty good. I could have gone with one of the smart chargers the electric co likes, but to get the rebate meant essentially relinquishing control to the utility, where they could prevent charging at certain times. I am 100% solar and didn’t want that.

Can save a few buck with the Grizzl-E and go refurbished. Same warranty.

Unless you need a smart EVSE for some utility time of use/rebate program, go simple.

I've got the Wallbox Plusar Plus hardwire version and works perfect so far. Phone app is simple to use.

Thank you I thought I had one...it is renamed to " crapbox" tells me 3-4 times a day disconnected. Opinion really lacks compared to Tesla and Charge Point.

I have a 14.8kw system and 3 Tesla Powerwall 2s. Tesla did the install. I did it all through the app, so it was very simple. Tesla was fantastic, handled everything, great communication and a great crew. After hearing stories about customer service on the EV side, I thought it was a risk, but the price was great and the experience far exceeded expectations.

Thanks for the responses.
I'm leaning toward the Grizzl-E Classic. Attractive price, seems to be well-regarded and made in North America. The Tesla charger probably gets the best reviews and obviously more than a few folks on this forum have had good success with it. The price is a bit of a turnoff however.
