Engineering Investigation

So out of the blue I get a phone call from Rivian. They need to schedule my Gen2 R1T for a service visit. When I ask the reason all he knew was that my VIN came up on their list for an engineering investigation. Anyone else have this happen? What the heck is an engineering investigation?

Good part is I’m scheduled for next Monday.

Just dropped it off. At least they gave me a quad to use. They are replacing the west zone controller.

Update: Service just contacted me with an update. Part installed but software went sideways, had to order another part ?

I can't help but wonder about the "engineering investigation" term and whether this was a condition they discovered unique to your vehicle through telemetry vs. a block of serial numbers, etc. that have a known manufacturing issue/defect.....

Based on the original voicemail I believe its a block of VINs.

When Rivian had our R1S for almost 20 days, they gave me an identical Quad R1S (even the same color) as a loaner. We weren't suffering. They came to our house last week to replace the 12V system - a call that they initiated.

I know we see a lot of complaints about Rivian service in this forum, but I'm one satisfied customer.

I am downright SHOCKED we haven't seen DROVES of rivians slowly flipping in fields across the US. Didn't you see the eyewitness report of that trustworthy fellow?
