T+ 11 days. Service telling me they found an open circuit in the harness connecting the AC and HV. They will be replacing the entire harness, AC compressor, PTC heater. Will keep everyone here updated on the progress.

T+13 days.

Notified on Monday that entire HVAC system replaced as well as HV harness associated with it. Was told they needed a day to test it out and make sure charging was ok and all was fine.

Notified the following afternoon that the vehicle is all ready for pickup. I asked if it was ok to pick it up the following morning as the center closes before I could make the 2+ hour drive from my office to pick it up. They said ok.

Showed up at 815 the next morning and my vehicle was up front, all washed and cleaned... on the outside. Interior had marks on the seats and trim which I wiped with a microfiber I kept in the door pocket. Foot prints on the carpet under my rubber floormats - I assumed they removed everything to work on the vehicle. Ok no big deal.

Went to my app to unlock the car and noticed the high temp icon, the same one that you see when the car is parked in the sun. It showed the interior was 140F. Opened the door and it was normal temp inside. Asked the Rivian guy and he said oh reboot your app. Did that and it showed 140F. They took the car back in and said it needs a new interior temp sensor. They said we can give you the car back and call you when the sensor is delivered. I asked, doesn't that sensor control the interior fans and climate control? The guy said yes, so your HVAC might not work right. I said please keep the vehicle until it is fixed.

I drove my rental Rav4 to work, needing to cancel morning clinic due to the wait.

The wait continues.

Appreciate the timeline and updates on this thread. Nicely documented. Hope they get it resolved soon.

warm. I've never attempted to max mine out, but running defrost on high for close to an hour when it was around 0F outside left the cabin in the 95F range.

It was maybe 60F outside and interior temp was about the same. I thought maybe they just forgot to plug the sensor back in since they were working on the system, but I was told that it needed a new sensor. You would think this is something that would instantly pop up once they plug in the computer to check everything out, but I guess not. Rivian offered to deliver the vehicle back to me once this is all done, but honestly the reason I want to pick it up in person is in case something like this happens.

T + 17 days.
Finally got the car back.
Rivian traced the electrical error to an open circuit in the HVAC harness which connects the AC with the HV battery.
They replaced
1) AC compressor
2) PTC heater
3) HVAC box including fan
4) High voltage harness
5) interior temp sensor
6) HVAC drain

Surprisingly they did not replace the 12V battery. I’m still on the factory battery.

No real issues driving the vehicle home. The wheel alignment is still off (after three alignments from Rivian). I think it’s a radial pull so should go away once I replace the factory tires.

Dropped off my rental RAV4 that I put almost 1000 miles on. I’ve owned an R1S for almost a year now. I’ve put 17000 miles on the R1S and 7000 miles on rentals from Rivian while the car was in the shop. Here’s hoping for a more reliable year 2.
