I ordered the R1T three years back because I could get it quicker. After I looked at the rather small price difference compared to other tow capable SUVs, I also preordered a R1S in August. I expect that it will be about 2 years behind my R1T on delivery date so I can decide what I want to do then. If the wife likes it she can drive the R1S. I only need to tow max 7,000 lbs so the R1S rating of 7,700 should handle it. the R1T can tow 11,000. The longer wheelbase of the R1T probably helps towing in windy conditions.
I do want to camp inside with the AC on. The roof tent costs about the same as the price difference between an R1S and R1T.
