probably for the same reason some people have always called engines, motors. Some people still call electric motors engines. I don't know why they do it.

Pretty common when English is not your primary language. From my anglo-centric worldview, I often forget that the Tesla workforce and by extension their owner base is global.Hard to say if it’s real or not. He said it has an “engine”![]()
That is a perfectly logical explanation!Pretty common when English is not your primary language. From my anglo-centric worldview, I often forget that the Tesla workforce and by extension their owner base is global.
Am I actually agreeing with you? ??Pretty common when English is not your primary language. From my anglo-centric worldview, I often forget that the Tesla workforce and by extension their owner base is global.
Motor oil for engines ?That is a perfectly logical explanation!
Not only is it global, but their factories are iterative as well.Pretty common when English is not your primary language. From my anglo-centric worldview, I often forget that the Tesla workforce and by extension their owner base is global.
But bro, it’s a privilege to pay a $20K premium to get a first build Cybertruck today! How is this any different than what Tesla has done all along?
They constantly ship things before their ready.
This is after all a company that promised full self driving that ended up not being full self driving at all. They also pulled stunts like disabling the radar before the Vision only replacement was ready.
Elon is a strong believer in iterative design which is great, but its often the customer that ends up paying for it. Usually in the form of waiting till your dead before you get what you paid for.
I definitely prefer Rivian where things are a bit more proven out before they ship it. Rivian will also do a stop ship like they did with the powered tonneau cover when they know the design is bad.
We all know not to buy a new model within the first year of ownership. But, its one of those things that's much easier to say than do. The heart wants what the heart wants. So I can't blame people for doing this, but its especially important not to do this with Tesla.
I made this mistake with Rivian and as a result I have:
A tock noise on acceleration and deceleration - As I understand it this was fixed through a chassis change that is impossible to retrofit.
A Worthless Driver Monitoring Camera - As a result I'll never have the hands free Driver+ that was promised when I bought it.
A powered tonneau cover that will likely break - Not worried about this as they'll likely fix it
A wireless phone pad that will never ever work - I just hope whatever they come out can be retrofitted.
Pretty atrocious passive entry system - It's horribly inconsistent with its range
Aside from the tock which I find annoying these are all small things. Nothing like paying for EAP+FSD and getting 4 years of almost nothing for it.
Gosh I hope not.....Am I actually agreeing with you? ??
Just buy one of the aftermarket solutions (which by definition "can be retrofitted").A wireless phone pad that will never ever work - I just hope whatever they come out can be retrofitted.
For me it comes down to quality of it, and the simplicity of the install.Just buy one of the aftermarket solutions (which by definition "can be retrofitted").

As soon as one is available that meets those two criteria's then I'll buy it. I'm not going to wait for Rivians.
