So my R1S is at Costa Mesa. It needs some work at a shop. This is a very unbelievable story. They call me and tell me it’s going to a Rivian certified shop. I call back to get a name of the shop. “I’m not sure but it’s certified by Rivian”. I told them to get back to me and I search on the Rivian certified collision center. “MP Auto” was the shop and the shop is not on the list and when I look it up, it’s in San Fernando. Why would you drive a customer’s car from Costa Mesa all the way to San Fernando when there are so many certified OC shops?
Their response is that they are not sure why they decided on this MP Auto. The managers Luis and his team made the decision. When the service tech Joe came back from lunch, the vehicle was already on its way to San Fernando. I tell them to get my vehicle back because I don’t want them driving it that far and back to a non certified collision center. Their response is that there are “certified collision centers” and “approved collision centers” so approved ones can also do the work. They were already driving it up there so had to intercept and drive it back to Costa Mesa. Rivian service center should determine what the backlog is on body shops and which shops are available and let the customer make the determination on which shop to proceed. Don't make a determination for the customer and drive it 150 miles round trip away. Common sense and professionalism lacking.
Don’t these guys use truck beds to transport customer vehicles during service? Don’t these guys use common sense? So baffled by lack of professionalism.
