I ordered and just received this safe yesterday. While it is very sturdy - it is also insanely small. My Sig P365 - barely, and I mean barely fits inside. The other issue is there is no way to quickly withdraw the firearm once opened - as the gun has to be inserted and withdrawn at an odd angle. Finally, you do have to drill into the side of your center console to secure it. This does not bother me, but considering the other issues, I still have not decided whether to install it or not. I don't really want to consider anything smaller than my 365 either. Anyhow.... first world problems... Just food for thought. I am currently using a custom drawer with a finger print sensor that someone on here was making at some point. It goes in the cubby where the camp speaker resides. The main issue with that, however, is I don't feel it's secure enough. The entire drawer is unlocked when the vehicle goes into park. Further, if you yank hard enough you can pull the entire drawer open. So a combo of that with console vaults sturdiness would be the ideal solution for me.

I was concerned with the size as well. Guess I will find out tonight. Seems like they could have made it the size of the entire space and left cutouts for the ports and light and given us more interior space.

I didn't realize how small it was until I received it. I have some different magnets on order to see if I can mount the firearm a little slanted so it's more accessible. We shall see. Let me how yours works out.

From one Kevin to another...Please forgive my stupid question: The safe comes with either a barrel lock or a combination lock. So, if you needed your firearm in a hurry, you'd have to open the storage area, enter the correct code (under what I'm assuming would be a stressful situation) and then open the safe. I can't imagine that the time to withdraw the gun and get it in your hand (regardless of the angle) compares to how long it took to open the safe to begin with. Also - can you do it from the passenger seat with your left hand?

This safe sounds like a nice solution for people who want to keep things like their wallet and registration secure, not for things that they would want to get quickly.

I had a similar setup in my old Raptor - that safe just had about 10X the storage area. I kept the lock with all but the first digit in the correct position. I could get to my handgun in plenty of time. Not as quickly as if it were in a holster, but still plenty fast. Firearms are always a balance between convenience and safety. And yes - I could do it from either side. Honestly, I doubt I will use this safe, however, due to it just being impractically too small for 99.9% of my handguns.

Yep, unfortunately it’s way too small for anything other than a wallet or some personal items. If they had used the entire space and just left cutouts inside for the usb port area and lights then it might have been perfect. That would have allowed for a bigger door to get things in and out easier and have the drive cam storage inside the safe as well. Very disappointed, I’ve had one of these in two other trucks and really miss it in this truck. If they made one that used the full space available I would buy it again in a heartbeat. But this one is going back.
Err I mean this one is getting returned. Thanks Drathen :CWL:

I'd buy one, even though I already have a replacement that unlocks with a fingerprint. I could always use another USB-C charging port in the front seat. My suggestion is to have some sort of cable pass-through.

I'd suggest asking console vault to make a case that replaces the camp speaker, uses the locking mechanism and uses the pogo connector to have USB-C PD inside.

A center console vault for the R1T would be super handy. I have a Liberty Safe at home, and it’s been rock solid for storing valuables. When I was researching where to buy gun safes, I ended up going with Liberty because of their reputation. Having that same kind of security in a vehicle would be next level.
