But again, you have to weigh the cost difference. Whats the monthly service fee of your independent 5G hotspot, vs the $12 a month cost of continuing to use the 4gLTE hotspot provided.

Spent 4 hours trying to get the damn thing to work last night. I HATE APPLE, I hate the very existence of Apple. Log in, Log in with Apple ID, press continue.. Continue button doesnt work. Endless codes, worthless 2FA. I was literally screaming at my phone, laptop, and the Rivian.

I gave up, deleted my subscription, and asked Alexa to play something calming, she played Enya.
I will stay with my completely functional, and easy to use, Amazon Music, thank you.

Anyone have any insight into if there are changes coming to have the option allow Apple Music profiles to be attached to one driver or multiples, instead of just all drivers? My wife and I have a family plan of Apple Music, but my algos are going to get all messed up if we stay logged in to mine when she’s driving in her profile and starts to play her music.

Right now, regardless if you switch profiles, the same Apple Music ID (account) is engaged. For instance if my wife wanted to use her apple music, she'd have to log out of my Apple ID and then log in with hers, and vice versa.

Not the end of the world, but it seems like this could be an easy setting that allows you to tag an account to a specific profile and stay logged in without having to scan the QR again and log back in. In the situation where you have a separate driver that doesn't have Apple Music then you could have your profile remain the master account on all driver profiles, but it would be nice to have the ability to have other profiles for other drivers.

This has been a problem since day 1 with spotify and amazon music/alexa. I'm surprised Rivian hasn't done anything about it yet, to be honest.

It is difficult for me to understand why anyone would balk at the price of the subscription. Compared to the price of the vehicle, this is nothing, and a lot of functionality depends on the internet connection.

BUT - subscriptions are just annoying.

Rivian, instead of charging $100,000 upfront and then charging another $1,000 via subscriptions over the course of the vehicle's lifetime how about you just collect the full amount upfront. If you need $101K to be profitable, then just charge $101k.

I doubt there are many customers who would not have purchased the vehicle If it was $1,000 more expensive.

So for anyone having the log in issues, and endless looping log-in.. This article I have found MAY fix the problem.. Gonna try tonight when I get home and borrow my neighbors iPad.

Ditto. Endless loop, locked out of account. Email saying access to my account has been denied. Apple can eat an entire universe full of dicks!
I'm not sure how this is better than the Jeep I had that connected instantly to my phone and android auto worked flawless until the day I sold its janky ass back to the dealer.

Agreed. Considering these connected services themselves require additional subscriptions. I’ve simply had it with the countless small subscriptions through all our devices. Nickel and dimed to death.

Well, I got farther than that, and it only got worse. The app says three month free trial, and then the billing page says 2 months free trial.

I agree with this almost totally... Make it a 8 year subscription upfront.. (if memory serves correctly) Thats how long the battery warranty is good for, thats nearly triple the amount of time a typical new car purchaser trades in their car. It sets a timeline/sundown feature, and the new owner gets a free perk (for a time), and as technology changes, it allows Rivian to figure out how to do a upgrade to a new firmware, and renew the subscription to it.

Same thing here.

I spent all day on it and was never able to login. I even went to a neighbor's house and tried to login on their Apple laptop. That didn't work either.

A nice reminder why I don't own any Apple products.


UPDATE: I called Apple and was told the only way to "fix" the account was to find a neighbor with an iPhone and add my account to their phone and only then would I be able log in from a web browser.

It did work, but was mighty awkward asking my neighbors if I could mess with the account settings on their phone.

+1 PT for Apple actually having customer service. -50 points for having such a convoluted system that an 30 minute call with customer support is required to create an account. And minus another 150 points for requiring such an uncomfortable conversation with my neighbors.

The sound quality is going to have to be REALLY good to overcome that first impression.
