Got my full size spare setup and installed today by Rivian mobile service - almost too easy!

I hope none of you were the Rivian on Berthoud pass that was towing a trailer that looked like it got taken out by a minivan today!

I received and installed the CarPlay unit from EVSportline yesterday. Very happy. Waze, Apple and Google Maps, voice texting, streaming my UK radio station and much more. What's more - there's no real lag - it's very snappy, just like the carplay in previous vehicles I've had. Works with Android auto too. Install is simple - the hardest thing for me was finding the ground connector, but finally found it hiding behind the carpet. Easy to hide the wires too. Definitely recommend this thing if you use waze, or want more accurate maps/traffic, or voice texting.

Just put mine in as well. Overall, pretty slick set-up. Love having Waze and Google Maps up front and center and the phone sitting qietly.

Just did a long weekend up in Winter Park for some skiing - averaged 1.64 mi/kWh which given the cold temperatures (single digits, mostly) was pretty good. Driving up and over Berthod was an absolute dream and Snow mode with Michelin X-Ice tires was amazing. My only complaint - Winter Park is an absolute charging desert. There are only a few VERY slow level 1 chargers in town and for a variety of reasons, the chargers at the resort don't work for us (my wife doesn't ski and usually drops us off, so we don't park there). The ONLY fast charger is a 25 mile drive into the Kum & Go in Granby.

We got lucky and parked at the Fireside Market overnight at 1 of their 2 level 1 chargers in the covered parking garage, power sharing at 3 KwH all night but it certainly wasn't convenient to drop it off and pick it up. We also got lucky and I used the Gravity Haus Chargepoint which is supposed to be for guests only but figured they wouldn't mind and they didn't - the 2nd charger was ICE'd so thought they would be towed before us. The chargers in the Winter Park Parking Garage were almost always taken and the garage is VERY tight so it's a hassle to get in and out. We also had an outdoor plug at our rental and I trickle charged on a 110v outlet (first time I ever used the mobile charging cord) but only gained 2 mi/hr with that method which I expected. Overall, I wish they would put just a single fast charger in or near Winter Park (not Granby) which would massively improve the experience. I saw Rivian's and Teslas everywhere so clearly there is demand. WP is totally fine for a day trip but for multi-day use and cold temps, you need to have some charging options that don't take 12+ hours.

Also saw my first Cybertruck in person...not as bad in person as I thought but was funny to watch it spin out accelerating from the stop light.

Our first, true winter adventure in the R1S. Left Crested Butte yesterday after 10 inches of snow overnight. Monarch Pass was a bit dicey with 3 to 4 inches of powder over packed snow, snowing with low visibility. We took it easy because I wasn't sure what to expect from the 20" ATs. But, the car handled great. I was very happy with the performance of these tires on the slick roads.
The town has two public ChargePoint Level 2 stations, and a DCFC at the fire station. We used the L2 during the daytime off-peak hours at $0.08 /kWh. Can't beat that price!
This was also our first time using the RAN chargers in Salida. A great location close to all the downtown dining.
In Crested Butte, there were other members of the Rivian family- we saw a black R1S, and an El Cap Granite R1T.

Y’all stay warm this weekend. The roads are gonna be hazardous and that attracts the really stupid drivers. So stay home if you can.

@DTown3011, there’s a single 62.5 kW ChargePoint charger in front of the Safeway Fraser closest to the fishing ponds. It has been reliable and reasonably fast, similar to the units at Kum & Go Granby.

Agreed, WP mountain and town need to get on it as the existing Level 1 chargers aint cutting it.

I knew about the one at the pond. I know it’s been on and off but it’s still not as close to town and not as fast as I would like. All the level one trickle chargers around Winter Park are such a useless thing unless you’re parking somewhere for a really long time

First true snowy road trip in the R1S today to Winter Park. I had to go via Kremmling since Berthoud pass is still closed after this morning's avalanche. Only took 5.5 hours - 2 hours of that spent going from Georgetown to Silverthorne since truckers decided the chain restriction was a suggestion today. I counted no less than 6 trucks stuck in the right lane without chains on the last 2 miles before the Tunnel. Sounds like they need to up the fine from $1,000 for truckers ignoring the chain law and subsequently blocking the road. I vote for $10,000, lol.

On the positive side, I got to top off at the Kremmling magic dock while I grabbed some food - so don't have to worry about charging in WP. Pizza place in Kremmling was out of food at 6:30, but the Mexican place across the street was quick and tasty!

The Rivian is a beast in the snow. I just have the stock AT's and didn't notice any loss of traction the whole way . I felt very comfortable the entire drive. Ready for a powder day tomorrow!

Was an unbelievable 72 hours in the mountains. 110 mph winds at Panoramic Lift Saturday at Winter Park. Pano has been closed for 3 days, will be EPIC tomorrow if it opens. Eagle Wind can't be far behind.

Had an all time day at Eldora with my son today, snow stake was buried to the point the entire frame was filled with snow. Had to be 20"+ out there.

Truck was an absolute dream. The Michelin X-Ice tires continue to impress. Defog setting is golden when it's -4 out and your windows start to ice over!

You're not kidding - it blasts some heat on the windshield for sure! It's very powerful.

Can't wait to hit the slopes in the morning!

I was going the opposite way back to Boulder. We have a place in Tabernash and was just trying to time when we should leave. That didn’t work out so well quite the epic drive didn’t get home until the next day. I have to say the R1S was amazing. I didn’t have to charge it was cold the cabin was warm the windows didn’t fog. Awesome car. I did slip a bit though in the stock AT 20’s compared to my Tesla S I had before this car. I might just look at getting some snow tires.
