Planning my first trip to Copper Mountain this week driving my R1S from Denver. Plan to charge to 100% and have 20" Blizzak snow tires. I'm assuming I should be good without having to stop for charging?

Any useful tips/advice for those who have done it in Winter for Ski trip?

Thanks!
You won't have to stop for charging at all. You should have 30%+ or more left. I've only been charging to 85% for my Winter Park trips since last season.

Has anybody found a local tire shop that is approved to do alignments on our Rivians? Or is the Service Center the only option? I tried Les Schwab but they said they don't have the alignment specs for Rivian yet.

I am checking with my Hunter Alignment Rep to see if they have gotten the specs to install on the their alignment machines. Early indications is that Rivian is keeping the specs close to the chest.

@ajthejuice - were the TPS already mounted / inside the tires ? I just did the work myself, switched all the tires - damn they're heavy - then drove around the block. No TPS readings. I went through the trash, and taped to one of the cardboard boxes were 4 valve looking things. I'm hoping these were what was originally on the tires, and not the TPS.

Did you have to do anything special to register the new TPS ?

Although the time it took me to do this - your $159 is actually looking pretty good. The Nokians are far heavier than the 21 inch all seasons. I may opt for your service next time. thanks

@runningdenver yes they were already mounted, however I had to add them to my order as a separate zero dollar line item (see screenshot). Did you ensure you had them added to your order?

It took about 15 minutes of driving (6-7 miles) for them to register. I’ve been running them at 52/53 PSI for the last 200+ miles. As of a few minutes ago I was averaging 2.07 mi/kWh on the new setup.

yes - I got that too (just confirmed). I've done a soft reset and hard reset, and probably driven 10 miles. Still not recognized. I'll contact EVS. I called Rivian support to get the tire size adjusted - but they eventually told me that because it was third party and not a pirelli tire, they couldn't re-calibrate anyway. I could have sworn I'd seen other people get it updated. The good thing - I have a GPS radar detector that shows the speed, and that still ties to the speedo, so it seems like that's not going to be an issue. Just the range may not be quite as good, since the tires are heavier. Although good to see your 2.07 avg. Were you able to get your tire size adjusted ?

I didn’t need to get the tire size adjusted, as this was a like for like swap on size and wheel offset.

I’m getting ready to head out to the Denver service center to get my mirror and tonneau cover fixed. One small complication came up on Friday. Rivian called and said the delivery of tonneau cover parts was delayed by a day. They asked if they could keep my truck an extra day. The service tech offered an extra day of uber credits but I don’t need them so I turned it down.

Anyways, I’m heading out now. I‘ll be there for a couple hours until my wife comes to pick me up. Say high if you see my hippy haired self wondering around with an iPad. ?

The new RAN chargers in Hays, KS are coming along nicely! Talked with the gentleman from Rivian putting the finishing touches on them. He was awesome. Hope they’re open when we come back through!

WOOHOO! It’s alive, ALIVE!
The sound of the motor does seem to struggle a bit when closing the cover, so I think I’m going to keep those tracks lubed.

Nice! I wound up charging at the EA station just north of this site at the Walmart on Xmas day. Wind was whipping 30+ mph, but had no issues and the only vehicle there. I'm hoping to be able to return from Chicago via I80 instead of I70, but if I need to take the southern route it would be awesome if this site was open by then!

@JKDU just did a drive from my home in Broomfield to Winter Park/Mary Jane Base. Started at 90%, arrived home at 30%. 60% battery up and back. Copper should be pretty similar.

Thanks DTown3011 for that trip info. Since this was my first trip to Copper Mtn. in my Rivian I decided to charge it to 100% (was only at 99% in the am) and was able to make there and back without charging no problem. Can't remember exactly but was at 40% or so when I got back to Denver. We also had typical bad mountain traffic there and back that cost us 1-2 hours delay each way. Like others pointed out in other threads, the regen stopped many times during the drive down the mountain throughout the trip which was frustrating. My buddy who went with me and has a Tesla Y noted his regen would still be going when my Rivian stopped. Despite that it was a great drive and so much better than previous years! It's amazing what a difference it was driving to Copper Mtn./Summit County in the Rivian.
