Exactly what I was afraid of with EV ownership. ??‍

Whats the best plan to work around this? Full charge in Colby (headed east) or Salina (headed west)? Looks like there’s a 62kW charger in Oakley that may help a little bit. Planning on making this trip for thanksgiving and would love to take the Rivian.

See my post above - we just did it last weekend with the Hays charger down. Definitely want to charge up more than usual in Colby/Salina (depending on the direction you're headed), but it actually wasn't bad. Drove a slower than usual - enjoyed talking with my son, etc. Feel free to reach out if you have any specifics you're interested in.

Hi all. I'm ordering the 1EV R1000 wheel with some Nokian Hakka's for the winter season today. Does anyone have a recommendation for a local tire shop for installation? One that's worked on your R1T/R1S for tire rotations/changes before? We just want to take our baby somewhere she can be well cared for. Thanks!

I have had good luck with Discount Tire, Just make sure they have the pucks needed, or provide them...

They do charge a seasonal change out fee.. But lifetime balance and rotate.

I have had one bad experience with Discount Tire, and it actually totaled my Mini-Van out. They didnt place the jack correctly as it wasnt a jacking point, and it caved in the side of the van.

But I have been going to my local store for 11 years, with all my many cars. Only 1 screw up by the local store.

The Discount Tire up near me in Thornton/I-25 has the pucks. Most Discount Tires have the pucks and the process to change tires on the Rivian dialed by now.

Powered Tonneau Cover replacements are starting! I was contacted by the Denver service center yesterday and have an appointment for next week to get it replaced. ? the new design is long lasting. I have been missing having enclosed bed space for the last year+. Luckily with the frunk and gear tunnel this truck still has great storage options, but having the tonneau back in operation will be great!

Did you have a standing appointment already and they just added the PTC replacement to it? I have a 1/10 appt and the the current timing to self book an appt at Denver is Jan 17/18, which is why I ask. I know because I've been checking very often (too often!) trying to get in to have a Front Camera/Sensors Off warning looked at before a road trip for xmas and I've also had my PTC ticket open since 8/1/2022.

I think we all know that trying to make sense of just about anything Rivian does is futile, just curious.

I did not have a standing appt already but have similarly had the ticket open since last year. Hopefully this means they start rolling out the fixes quickly. I expect they probably have some service blocks allocated to this type of warranty issue. They did say it's rather involved, would take a few hours to complete the replacement. I can imagine it won't be a cheap endeavor to replace all the PTC units out there.

Agreed. I fully understand that they can't just stop doing day to day service just to get replace all our PTCs. I don't really want the front camera/sensor error on my roadtrip to PHX and back over and I would REALLY like to have the PTC functioning again for this trip, so would be awesome to get both taken care of. I don't really remember what it's like to have the cover though considering it stopped working after about 6 days, lol.

let me know how you get on please. I was going to order those same wheels / tires from EV, but wanted to get a delivery date first (I locked in last week).. I've seen complaints about EV taking an order, even if it's not in stock, and then being months until you receive. I chatted with them this week about these and they claimed they were in stock. I'd be curious to know how long they take to send to you...

Also - outside of the work to install - is there an advantage to have a tire shop install ? Do they align or do other work ? I switch the winter / summer tires on my Y today, and was thinking I'd just do the same with these. I realize they're going to be heavier, but figured it wouldn't be more than an hour or so of my time ? Although I guess if the tire shop does them for a nominal fee, that may be worth it...

@ajthejuice - actually - when the tracking even gives you the guesstimated date, would you mind sharing that too ? I've been told I might get an R1S delivery late next week, so now I'm tempted to buy some snow tires / wheels now and switch them out shortly after the vehicle arrives. It does sound like they're pretty quick though, so good news. thanks !
