Has anyone come across info on a service center (or even mobile service) in Denver? With Amazon testing the Rivian vans in Den it seems to me they need some sort of service options already.
Not sure about Amazon vans, or even if Amazon vans will be repaired at Rivian facilities.

Rivian looks to be building a repair garage at 3893 Steele Street in Denver. Some quotes from the public information about the permit applications:

3893 N Steele St - Rivian Repair Garage - Change of Use - Tenant Improvement - Suite 1203
Tenant improvement of an existing building to change use to an automotive repair garage (21,219 sf) and a business area (3,820 sf).
Renovation of existing warehouse and change of use for new repair garage and office space. New roof framing for new RTUs. New concrete ramp for autos, concrete stairs, metal handrails, and structural steel headers/jambs for openings in existing walls.
Clearly label where the Auto sales will occur. If they are occurring in the provided parking, those spaces can not be counted towards the required parking.
A4) Sheet G011: The Customer Area is utilizing a 15 net occupant load factor (unconcentrated tables & chairs), resulting in an occupant load greater than 50. Therefore, wouldn’t this room be considered a Group A-3 Occupancy?
A5) Sheet G011: The Service & Delivery Office occupant load has been calculated at 9 occupants. However, 12 seats are being indicated. Therefore, either a concentrated OLF should be used (50 gross) -or- seat count should be used to determine the total occupants for this space.
A7) Sheet A102: Clarify the intent of the graphic below. If a vehicle is parked here permanently, it will be obstructing access to the proposed exit.

I was by there today after breakfast. Definitely “prep work” being done that looks like staging for when the permit is approved.

also, if any Rivian marketing people see this. There is a really great coffee shop nearby called “Rivers & Roads.” If this Rivian service center has a on-premises coffee shop please partner with them and call it “Rivians & Roads”

Drove by the service center location yesterday, probably not long after "Svet-Am"s visit. There’s a “Hyder Construction” sign at the entrance to the site. No noticeable change to the building exterior. Peeked in through one of the few see through windows. Looks like a couple interior walls have been framed, and a bunch of materials inside. I’m by no means a construction expert but looking like a few more months worth of work at least. Hopefully more progress soon!

I was there last week when the doors were open and they were lifting HVAC equipment on the roof. The have also opened up the wall for the ramp into the building and a bunch of electrical connections for chargers were installed already. There was also a trailer with what looked like charging stations on it. Most of the permits have been approved. I am building out a commercial building at the moment as well and it looks like 2-3 months of work to me.

Thanks for the insight. Based on what Rivian has said, I'm not expecting to "need" this service center for quite a while. They've said that they intend for us to take delivery at home and I don't expect any repairs for the foreseeable future (well after this site is complete and operational).

From information I've gathered via discussions regarding people who have had conversations with their Guides, and other Rivian info, deliveries likely will not be made until your area service center is complete. The service centers will take delivery of vehicles prior to the customer, where any optional accessories will be installed and the vehicle will be "validated" for delivery.

Don't mean to rain on anyone's parade, but I would doubt anyone in Colorado is getting a delivery before the service center is operational. You'd hope not to need the service center anytime soon after delivery, but if you do and it's not open, you'd be stuck with a broken vehicle. Probably doesn't make logistical sense to flatbed a Rivian thousands of miles cross country to an operational service center.

That's a fair take @Bonz26 but I think the logic unravels pretty quickly. This is a big country and many people (even here in Colorado) don't live anywhere near a major city where a service center is being built. Rivian has been pretty clear that they expect to handle "most" things with the roving repair vans (probably converted versions of the Amazon vans).

For example, I know (because I've chatted with them) that there are some pre-order holders in my home state of Mississippi. A couple of these folks have pre-order dates that go back to the original LA Auto Show reveal. So far, there's not only not a service center in Mississippi, there's not even a plan (eg, permits filed) to have one. I can't believe that Rivian would make these customers wait until there's a local service center to get their vehicle. That would erode trust in the brand and the company very rapidly. These pre-order holders "deserve" or "should" get their vehicles before I get mine (assuming all the same configuration details) due to their date. Else, what was the point of the early pre-order?

I agree with your sentiment here in obvious Rivian country CO, but if you’ve been following along with the forums, it appears that it doesn’t really matter if you ordered in 4th qtr 2018 or later in 2019…it is coming down to location they see fit, support of delivery, and perhaps who you bumped into at an event from what I have garnered. Doesn’t really bother me honestly, at some point in the next several months, I have a feeling I’ll be taking delivery of a great vehicle for Colorado that Tesla and Land Rover have failed to design and reliably deliver for our state. Bring it.

I agree with everything you noted. Ultimately it would be beneficial for the brand to deliver vehicles regardless of a customer's location. I was mostly commenting on information published that is noted to impact first deliveries. The quote below comes from an "InsideEVs" article on July 30th of this year:

"The EV manufacturer added that service centers would also prepare brand-new Rivian vehicles for delivery and install accessories on them. Unsurprisingly, the five previewed locations are located in or close to metropolitan areas."

I agree that someone who submitted a pre-order earlier than I did should receive a vehicle before I do. I'll be curious to see how pre-orders in a location not near a service center, like those you spoke of in Mississippi, are handled. To your point, the handling of such cases could be the pivotal point in developing trust in the brand or deciding to look for another option.

If anyone hasn't come across it yet, the "Answers & Info From Lunch w/ Rivian's Sr. Director of Customer Engagement" thread is an interesting read. Ultimately I think most of us will agree, it would be nice to have official information coming directly from Rivian so we can all stop speculating and developing our own conclusions that have been pieced together via an internet jig-saw puzzle. ;)

https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/...-director-of-customer-engagement-center.1913/

Fun to chat with other enthusiasts who all share the same passion for vehicles we can't wait to get our hands on.

To come back briefly to the specific locations. I had never personally been down to that part of Walnut until this past weekend. It is _CRAZY_ busy/overcrowded. If Rivian abandoned that location, I'm happy. The traffic is horrible and there's no way I want to be driving my $80K vehicle in that hipster hotspot with a high risk of an accident.

The location on Steele is much better. I'd still personally prefer a location in the burbs somewhere like Arvada or Westminster but the part of Denver it's in will probably be fine long-term.

This is awesome, thanks for the info!

Looks like this will just be a service center. Any idea if Rivian is planning a "show room" in Denver? I have to think we'd be a target city for a show room.

I completely and 100% agree with you. Rino has gone way south as far as crime. I was in this area last weekend and had my guard up. So sad for Denver despite the crazy growth. I’m in Westminster/Broomfield/Interlocken and it’s much better suited so close to Boulder and the high county than what downtown Denver has become recently.
