Side: R1S has badge on the C-pillar (behind rear door), R2 does not.
Rear: R1S has license plate on the drop gate. R2 has it on the bumper.
Front: R1 has 5 segment headlights, R2 has 3.

My number one identifier is:

Side: R1S spells out "R I V I A N" near lower front doors, R2 does not.

4/25/26 2Well this was pretty BEAT1.. even though ppl had signed up, the door were closed and they finally came out about 16:00 CDT and told ppl they weren’t letting anyone else in, come back maybe in 3 hours.. whatever.. there were only about 12 ppl Inside in a line probably to get a quick sit in the ONE car they had inside..

ppl were coming up saying “aren’t they letting anyone in, with reservations?”

I’m thinking they moved the primary location to the other chicago area location where there were more cars, and possibly better logistics for Parkin,g etc.

Catalina Cove looks dark in these indoor photos with all the black trim. In the outdoor videos it was teal blue, and then green-ish at different light angles. Catalina Cove is very different from the Rivian blue in the R1 based on a photo posted of the vehicles next to each other at a charging station.

I am looking forward to seeing this color in person in a few weeks! Hopefully since this is California the event is held outside in direct sunlight for better viewing of the various colors.

Was at the Old Orchard event today. Inside in the darker lighting Catalina Cove looks very similar to Storm Blue. They had color samples there and we held up the two together and they are very close. Yet, in every picture outside in the sun Cataline Cove looks very Teal. This was the main reason I wanted to see this in person. I'm now a big fan of Cataline Cove.

I've been lucky enough to see five different R2 colors in person over the last couple weeks, including the three at the both Chicago locations this weekend. Here are some of my pics.

I know I'm in the minority, but so far my favorite color is white.

My brother and I went to the Old Orchard event on Saturday morning. There was a decent sized crowd there but well-behaved. My brother is interested in R2, but wanted to see the scale compared to R1. I have an early R2 reservation but, unfortunately, will probably drop it as I need a pickup for a few more years. I asked two reps about transferring reservation. One said “well, maybe “. The other said that a co-ownwership is possible but it sounded kinda “messy”.
Both of us liked the scale of the R2. Interior is really nice. They may have hit the sweet spot with this one and probably sell a few dozen or more.

No, I looked and asked. No "oh shit" handles on the R2. The guy said they aren't including them because the R2 is a size that most people can slide in and out without needing the handles.

what I really wanna see is someone set the front seat who’s at least 6’2” and then get in the backseat and show me that great sitting on the rear bench behind the driver shot and how much clearance there is between the cap and back of the front seat divot.

If I don’t get that before the Palo Alto showing that I’m planning to go to, I’ll be sure to take that picture first

When I took that picture looking down at my feet from the back seat, there were two BIG guys in the front seats. I'm not sure about their heights, but they were very rotund. I was so shocked with the leg room that I asked them if they were far back enough to be comfortable, and they said yes.
