I always back up the truck into the garage, it’s been a year … I just noticed it after the last updates.. I think it was the .46 … and it’s when the light changes causes the shift to night mode.
Same. Only had my R1S a few weeks, but noticed this issue this morning for the first time. Nearly ran off the driveway because I was actively using the back up guide.
I posted this on a different thread, but wanted to contribute here as well.
This is a much bigger deal than just losing a camera. How much safer are cars with a functioning camera system? How many lives have been saved by seeing things earlier?
I understand using mirrors or throwing the arm around the seat and that works...unless a tiny tree is exactly in the blind spot and the sensors (and the cameras) are not working. Cameras are a crucial component of safety and the ability to operate any modern vehicle. The side mirrors are smaller due to the vehicle's reliance on cameras. Given the wait time in some of the service shops to fix the problem is 1-2 months, this is unacceptable. $20k quote due to equipment failure (see picture below). No thanks. Already advised my friend to not accept his delivery in February. This is a $97k car that has basic functionality issues. Unacceptable.
@Rivian should be preparing a permanent fix or get ready for longer and longer wait times as more deliveries and failures occur.
